Mock Schedules

Yeah. I have just created a schedule that will go against Australian Open on Channel Nine in early 2020. These US shows could be beaten heavily by Australian Open on Channel Nine, even in Perth.
At the beginning of the year, the Princesses at War: One-off special rated dreadfully and was beaten heavily by tennis on Nine. If TEN’s US import shows don’t rate high enough against Australian Open, then there will be problems for the station.

What about Bachelor in Paradise against the aus open at 8:30?

I think that it would be completely dumb to have Bachelor in paradise against AUstralian Open at 8:30PM. After I’m a Celebrity finishes, Dancing with the stars should take over on Sundays. Bachelor in Paradise to be held on Monday-Thursdays.

Dumb? It seems to have done well in an 8:30 slot and from celebrities figures this year it seems viewers want an alternative…

Dancing with the stars will likely air after Masterchef next year. There is no way they will air it against married again

Married at First sight will probably end on 21 March (one week before Easter ratings). But I think that Masterchef could potentially make a head start after easter ratings finishes.
Meanwhile, I would like to see Lego Masters air after Easter. Then Ninja Warrior in May. (Rebecca Maddern might be ok to have Ninja in May so that it won’t clash with State of Origin.)
@turdall, I would think that state of origin could air on June 2, june 21 and July 8. June 2 would be in Sydney, June 21 would be in Brisbane and July 8 will be in Adelaide.).

Not sure airing Masterchef against the new MKR show would be the smartest idea.

As for Married it will air for around the same time next year. They won’t shorten the season just break it over Easter.

My kitchen rules will without a doubt overlap with Easter and LEGO masters and doing it would be a waste if it happens.
I would say that having Ninja Warrior overlapping with Olympics is a dumb decision by Nine. Otherwise Nine would be thrashed heavily by Seven.
Bledisloe Cup Game 1 Could And will overlap with Olympics and this would see people stop watching the match. I’d say move it after when Tokyo 2020 Finishes.

Nah, I reckon MAFS finale week will be the last one the Easter ratings break.

2nd week coverage on main channel

Post Olympics 2000 was not a good time for Channel 7 having lost the AFL rights from 2002-06 leaving them with no winter sport.

What was 7’s schedule like in 2000-01 in all markets?!?

From what I can gather, The Weakest Link was shown twice a week, Monday 7:30pm in all markets, and then:

  • Thursday 7:30pm in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth (this was to allow The Game, a short-lived footy show, to air on Fridays at 7:30pm before Friday Night Football)
  • Friday 7:30pm in Sydney and Brisbane

Once the AFL season finished TWL would be Mondays and Thursdays 7:30pm in all markets.

BHG (then only 1/2 hour) was Tuesdays at 7:30pm, followed by The Great Outdoors and All Saints.
The Mole/Ground Force was Wednesdays at 7:30pm followed by Blue Heelers.

I personally think that 9pm is too late for any reality (Unless its content like Love Island or The Bachelor/The Bachelorette that could feature adult themes) and 6:30pm is too early.

I believe Ten should follow its early 2000s lead and start reality TV at 7pm.

The schedule could look like this
Monday to Wednesday
5:0pm Ten News
6:00pm Ten News/The Project (or The Project/Ten News)
7:00pm Reality Tentpole
8:30pm Drama/Light Entertainment
10:00pm Ten News/The Project
11:00pm International Drama/Comedy
12:00am Inside Edition
12:30am CBS This Morning

Thursday
5:0pm Ten News
6:00pm Ten News/The Project (or The Project/Ten News)
7:00pm New US Sitcom
7:30pm Lisa Wilkinson Presents
8:30pm Drama/Light Entertainment
10:00pm Ten News/The Project
11:00pm International Drama/Comedy
12:00am Inside Edition
12:30am CBS This Morning

Friday
5:0pm Ten News
6:00pm Ten News/The Project (or The Project/Ten News)
7:00pm The Sports Project
7:30pm The Living Room
8:30pm Drama/Light Entertainment
10:00pm Ten News/The Project
11:00pm International Drama/Comedy
12:00am Inside Edition
12:30am CBS This Morning

10Boss
7:30pm As Scheduled each night
8:30pm Ten News/The Project
9:30pm current schedule delayed by 1 hour

Reality Encores
10Peach
Weekdays
1pm Reality Tentpole

Possible option if Ten could negotiate to channel shift late night early morning infomercials from Ten to say 10Peach ( spread throughout the week either overnight or weekdays - approx 8 hours in total), an additional Reality timeslot could be:
Ten
Friday/Saturday
2:00am Reality Tentpole encores
5:00am Religion

Honestly, although it would be cheap content filler, i know this last proposal won’t happen on the main channel (possibly more likely to happen with 10Peach )

You might be right. Just thought it could be an idea and possibly they could make the bachelor more adult. Paradise provided some of the biggest 8:30 audiences 10 has seen in a while. Obviously that theme has an audience at that time. Also it’s online streams were unaffected which is where a huge chunk of its audience consumes it. I would personally risk it as the show will always continue to be consumed online.

It’s also only a suggestion for a proportion of the year with March-suggested time to still contain that light entertainment and drama. I would personally launch Bach in paradise around New Years in an 8:30 slot for a 4 week run 5 nights a week.

I must add I wasnt trying to be too critical of your proposal - The Bachelor/Bachelorette/Love Island could run back to back for the first quarter of the year, with possibly screening/trialling new programs from Australia and abroad in that 7:00pm/7:30pm timeslot. Maybe even over Summer (dependent on content being available), Ten could screen movies at 7pm Fridays over Summer (possibly Best of The Living Room screening on Thursdays at 7:30pm or Saturday at 6:30pm or 7:30pm) or even movies just in the 2 Fridays around Christmas/New Year

I would replace the weekday 1pm to 4:30pm schedule on Ten with

1pm Afternoon Edition - News based program
2:00pm Lets Make A Deal (US Game Show)
3:00pm Sale Of The Century (encore)
3:30pm Celebrity Name Game (encore)
4:00pm Judge Judy

10Peach
4:00pm Bold And The Beautiful (encore from previous day - announcement at end all new B&B starts now on Ten)
4:30pm Neighbours (encore)
5:00pm The Price Is Right (US Edition)
6:00pm Celebrity Name Game
6:30pm Neighbours
7:00pm Sale Of The Century

A New Year’s Timeslot FOr Bachelor in Paradise. I would think that would Be a wise decision to launch BiP the week after the NY period. During NY period they may throw in repeats of movies, factual stuff
And having new episode of the project over Christmas and New year period would ve dumb. Not a lot of people would work during the Xmas And NY period on 10.

Why is everything dumb? The project is 10s news brand. They only break it for a short week. In my opinion it should be airing 52 weeks a year.

I have to agree with @turdall on this one. These days all regions have access to the primary channels of all 3 commercial metropolitan stations, so why not take advantage of it. Use this advantage of not have stop/starts with sporting fixtures and run TV series through.

If we look longer term, perhaps if Ten were to secure the NRL rights , perhaps pre-season fixtures. Perhaps re-introduce a midweek competition with lower division teams playing (say either InTrust Cup or NSW Cup in NSW and equivalent in QLD). In respect to other states, Central and Western Australia could carry the QLD competition with all others carrying the NSW competition.

Again thoughts, but I definitely agree with @turdall, keep all year round fresh with new content

But Studio 10 did it during Xmas and new year period. I think it’s ok to have new episodes of Studio10.

I was saying when 10 previously had bbl rights, the project took a 2 week Christmas and new year break before resuming it in early January. But now they are doing 52 weeks per year.

If Ten get the NRL rights after Nine’s rights expire at the end of 2022:
