Mock Schedules

My solution to the two-tiered 7HD system that Seven is running at the moment.

Nowadays, anyone who can access 7, can also access 7Two, so move Better Homes and Gardens to 7Two in all markets, and air AFL on the main channel in all markets.

Those in NRL states that don’t want to watch the AFL, would either already be watching NRL on 9, or can continue to watch BH&G on 7Two or their regular programming on other channels. Such an easy solution in my opinion.

On the weekend, continue to air the AFL on the main channel and the current 7 programming from NRL states (usually just movies) would be moved to 7Two in all markets.

Based on Today’s (Friday 29th July) actual schedule.

While I agree with such a schedule if it meant a consistent HD channel nationwide, would it really work in practice?

The main reason why AFL games air on 7mate in Perth is because of the time difference, 7.30pm Melbourne time is 5.30pm over in Perth and clearly the network doesn’t want to mess with their early evening lineup which rates very strongly over in the West as I’m sure we’re all aware. Such a move to air live AFL on the main channel would also cause some headaches for regional WA affiliate GWN7, who air their local news bulletin at 5.30pm weeknights.

In Sydney & Brisbane, the AFL doesn’t really rate that well on 7mate the last I checked and I doubt it would do much better on the main channel. If anything, Seven’s alternative programing to Nine’s NRL coverage (and similar can probably be said for Nine’s alternative programing to Seven’s football coverage in AFL states) rates far better than the other football code. Sad, I know.

Tell that to those with Foxtel satellite in Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane who this week lost the channel in favour of 7mate!

Of course, I’d argue that you shouldn’t rely on Foxtel retransmissions of FTA stations (sadly, many people actually do) unless they’re in a terrestrial TV blackspot but that’s for another topic…

For the new dramas I would look at doing a new police drama.

If it’s available from CBS News, I’d like to see Ten try a live broadcast of CBSN 5:00-8:30am. I’ve tried streaming CBSN but it says i’m in the wrong country.

My proposed schedule for Seven after the Rio Olympics

SUNDAY
7.00 The Big Music Quiz
8.30 Sunday Night

MONDAY
7.30 Cannonball
8.30 The Durrells

TUESDAY
7.30 Zumbo’s Just Desserts
8.30 800 Words
9.30 Mrs Brown’s Boys

WEDNESDAY
7.30 Zumbo’s Just Desserts
8.30 Criminal Minds
9.30 Code Black

THURSDAY
7.00 Home and Away
8.00 Selling Houses Australia

Somehow, I wouldn’t be terribly surprised if that’s the actual schedule!

I like that schedule Jono. But I think Seven will air Zumbo on Sundays and probably Music Quiz on Wednesdays. But I prefer yours.

I have added Cannonball to the above schedule. Both it and The Durrells are only six episodes and should finish by the end of September, pending Seven’s live broadcast of the AFL Brownlow Medal.

Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sundays in 2017 on Ten

FRIDAY
7:30 I’m a Celebrity, Masterclass, After the Rose (Bachelor)
8:30 The Living Room
9:30 Ten News

SATURDAY
6:00 Family Feud
6:30 The Project - WEEKEND EDITION
7:30 All Star Family Feud
8:30 Dirty Laundry Live
9:30 Ten News

SUNDAY
6:00 Family Feud
6:30 The Project - WEEKEND EDITION
7:30 Reality
8:30 New Chat Show
9:30 Ten News

I think pigs will fly with Ten News at 9.30. I think you would be stretching it a fair bit with all reality shows at 7.30 Friday. You may well alienate viewers, and Project would get thumped badly on the weekend. You also have to remember The Project could be gone from TEN, if the rumours are true.

What rumors?

Roving Enterprises moving the show to Channel 9

If we believed every ‘rumour’ we would be very paranoid people…

Now that is some kind of interesting news service.

Well if it could get 400k at 6:30 and 600k at 7pm that would be better than anything else ten have ever had in that timeslot. It would double what they currently have.
Have you got any better ideas?

Channel ten Weeknights:

4:00 Ten Eyewitness News: Afternoon*
4:30 Bold and Beautiful
5:00 Ten Eyewitness News: first at five
6:00 Neighbours (FF will be shown on 11)
6:30 The Project
7:30-9:00 ---------
9:00 Ten Eyewitness News: Late*

*If ten hopefully beefs up its News service

Zacgb, the Afternoon bulletin is very close to the main bulletin and news is already covered by ABC 24 and the other two at that time. What would be so special about that Ten bulletin that would bring viewers away from the competition and justify the extra expense compared to what they currently schedule which is already compatible within the daytime schedule and I presume rates alright.

P.S. Didn’t realise Kathryn Robinson is now at the ABC. It’s good she found something.

7:30 I’m a Celebrity
8:30 Bull

Monday
7:30 I’m a Celebrity
8:30 Russell Coight’s All Australian Adventures

Wednesday
