Mock Schedules

The reason 10 moved reality from 7pm was because they didn’t have enough reality shows to fill the slot all year. The 7PM Project was created to fix this problem.

They moved it because they couldn’t find anything to fill the slot between August and December. Everything that they tried failed. That’s when they brought in the 7pm project. They also found that their reality shows were doing better in that 7:30 slot so thought this would boost their 8:30 offerings. My suggestion is to just air their reality for 90 minutes so it doesn’t have that same issue as before. Perhaps you aren’t old enough to remember the days 10 had reality at 7pm to understand the success of the network when it did air there.

It’s a mock schedule mate. We are allowed to throw up ideas

I seriously doubt this was the case given that The 7pm Project was launched at the same time as 6pm with George Negus and a 6:30 news bulletin as part of the so-called news revolution. It also timed in with the launch of Channel 11 and moving Neighbours from the main channel.

It was also around the time that 10 made one of many attempts to take on 7 and 9 in the breakfast television and morning television market.

If 10 were thinking of going down the path of getting a leg up on competitors in the reality TV market, then they wouldn’t have had the same start time for reality TV nor would they have moved reality to 7pm on Sunday - 10 would have kept the 6:30 Sunday timeslot for reality.

The 7PM Project was launched in 2009. ELEVEN & the news revolution was 2011.

Do we really need a history lesson on what happened at 10, this is the mock schedule thread where someone has done a mock of their idea.

I’m assuming it’s something like the show he was actually supposed to do at 7pm before Newshub got killed off.

My Idea for Seven in the 2nd half of 2026:

5.00 AM - Seven Early News

5.30 AM - Sunrise

9.00 AM - The Morning Show

12.00 PM - Seven National News

1.00 PM - Bridge of Lies

2.00 PM - The Afternoon Show (Hosted by Alex Cullen, Similar to The Daily Edition)

3.00 PM - The Chase

4.00 PM - Seven News At 4

5.00 PM - The Chase Australia

6.00 PM - Seven News

7.00 PM - Million Dollar Minute (Hosted By James Tobin) [Home & Away Moves to 7two]

7.30 PM - Reality Shows (e.g. MKR, Dancing With The Stars)

9.00 PM - Highway Patrol

9.30 PM - Seven Late News (Hosted By Angela Cox. Began Production due to the successof 10 Late News)

10.00 PM - Movie

12.00 AM - Home Shopping

4.00 AM - Million Dollar Minute (Simon Reeve Era)

Hypothetically - Seven could replace The Chase Australia with ‘Million Dollar Minute’ in 2027 if it is successful.

Sorta like the ‘Winning Arvo’ & 10 News+ debacle where it wasn’t announced at the UpFronts

They would never move Home and Away to 7two when it performs so well on channel 7.

That’s because it is the only thing that gives them decent ratings after 3pm

Your idea has some merit with Million Dollar Minute, but Home And Away is basically considered as much a part of the schedule as Sevens 6pm News.

My strategy for Home And Away would be different to yours, and even Sevens. I would structure Home And Away like this

30 weeks of 4 episodes a week

22 weeks of 5 episodes a week.

I would try to move away from the double and triple episodes a week as much as possible to attempt to navigate viewer fatigue. Not sure if I would keep it as a Monday to Thursday program or do Sunday to Wednesday to avoid clashes with the AFL on Thursdays, but a 7pm start time would be retained, with an extra day, either Sunday or Thursday or Friday being added depending on which option was chosen

In the 7:30pm Thursday slot I would trial double episodes of Million Dollar Minute if the Monday to Thursday run was retained for Home And Away, but if it was Sunday to Wednesday, then double episodes at 7pm Thursday and possibly Friday during AFL season and a 7:30pm slot on Thursdays only outside of AFL season.

I know it sounds a complex and it would be a bit risque as far as reality start times, if the Sunday night episodes was chosen, but it would offer reality start time consistency.

Also if Million Dollar Minute was chosen as a 7pm program on Friday, it offers Seven the option of Better Homes And Gardens to air at 7:30pm Fridays

BH&G rates fairly well for Seven so.. what they could do is air a Million Dollar Minute Repeat in the Saturday 5.30pm timeslot, replacing the Border Security repeats in some markets (e.g. Sydney & Melbourne). Then possibly they could retire the UK Chase & move ‘Million Dollar Minute’ there. Perhaps 2 episodes back to back (30 minutes each)

Either way, MDM should make a comeback as it could turn things around

(Should be called Thousand Dollar Minute tho lol)
