Hahha lol! He’s a great journo, I don’t see an issue with him. Who do you think would replace him? No other really…
I could actually see this working
Channel Nine 2021
Weekend Today
David Campbell & Belinda Russell
Today Extra
David Campbell (Mon-Wed)/Richard Wilkins (Thu-Fri) & *Sylvia Jeffreys (Mon-Thu)/Belinda Russell (Fri)
Nine News Sydney - Weather
Amber Sherlock (Sun-Thu)/Natalia Cooper (Fri-Sat)
As much as I don’t want the David/Richard split to start again, I think we can all agree that David would be a better fit on Weekend Today then Richard ever will be.
*same as it currently is with the Sylvia/Belinda split on Today Extra
I would leave the team how it is, except the Weekend team needs to change.
Charles Croucher and Sophie Walsh would be great for weekends
The move that 10 should’ve made if they wanted to cut on air talents.

10 News First Late Edition
Presented by various presenters including Lachlan Kennedy, Hugh Riminton, Gorgi Coghlan, Natasha Exelby, Narelda Jacobs etc on a rotating basis.
According to @Michael_Eccles, this is what The Hits’ Auckland line-up will look like in 2021.
Mon-Fri, 6-9am: Laura, Sam & Toni
Mon-Fri, 9am-3pm: Brodie Kane (live from Christchurch)
Mon-Fri, 3-4pm: Hayley & Urzila
Mon-Fri, 4-7pm: Jono & Ben
Mon-Fri, 7pm-12am: Tracy Chambers (live from Dunedin)
Weekends, 6-10am: Stace, Mike & Anika
Last year (in real life), Toni Street and Sam Wallace jumped ship from The Hits to join Jason Reeves as co-hosts on Coast’s breakfast show. Laura McGoldrick moved from breakfast to a new, mid-afternoon slot (3-4pm) to make way for Jono and Ben in the all important breakfast slot (6-9am). Up until recently Brodie Kane had co-hosted The Hits Christchurch’s breakfast with Dave (Fitzy) Fitzgerald, whose voice can now be heard on The Breeze in that region. And Tracy Chambers hosts The Hits Dunedin’s ‘live and local’ daytime show (9am-3pm).
In my opinion, I think the refreshed line-up for 2021 will be much better (I hope) and here’s how.
- Toni Street and Sam Wallace will return to The Hits and rejoin Laura McGoldrick as hosts of the new look “Laura, Sam & Toni” from 6-9am.
- Brodie Kane will replace Dave Nicholas as presenter of The Hits’ local daytime show (9am-3pm) for Christchurch, while producing a network show for markets that have a local breakfast show as well as markets with no local shows.
- Hayley Sproull and Urzila Carlson will take over as co-hosts of The Hits’ mid-afternoon slot (3-4pm) - also known as “The 3pm Pick Up” - moving Laura McGoldrick back to breakfast.
- When “Laura, Sam & Toni” returns, Jono and Ben will move to the drive slot (4-7pm).
- Tracy Chambers will replace Estelle Clifford as presenter of the network night show (7pm-12am), which will be broadcast live from Dunedin.
- “Stace, Mike & Anika” will move to weekends (6-10am) and after 10am, weekend programming will feature a rotation of announcers, including Estelle Clifford, Peter Dakin and Dave Nicholas. Party Mix - a commercial-free, announcer-free party music show - will continue to play on Saturdays and public holidays, as usual.
What do you think?
Very good. What i was thinking
My dream Seven News Sydney team:
Sundays to Thursdays
News: Mark Ferguson
Sport: Mel McLaughlin
Weather: Angie Asimus
Fridays to Saturdays
News: Ann Sanders
Sport: Matt Shirvington
Weather: Sally Bowrey
—
Michael Usher and Angela Cox would be made co-presenters of The Latest, which expands to a one hour show, and will run from Sunday to Thursday.
—
Ann will continue doing the Morning News and Sydney Afternoon News on Wednesdays and Thursdays (making her working week Wednesday to Saturday), and Chris Reason will pick up those newsreading duties on Mondays and Tuesdays.
I don’t think Mel is good enough to be on the Sydney news full time yet alone nationally hosting the cricket coverage. She needs to go back to presenter school to learn to read her script a head of time so she can pronounce players names correctly. Matt is a seasoned professional and should take the Sunday to Thursday spot. I’d put Mel on sport reporting duties so she learns how pronounce words correctly and I’d put Michelle Bishop on weekends. She is a far better presenter.
In those days, most commercial television stations across the Tasman (both the metropolitan and regional stations, in particular) would prefer the simplicity of having just three anchors for a main evening news bulletin: one for news, one for sport and one for weather.
In my book, the role of newsreader and sports anchor would be dominated by men with women being restricted to weather presentation only.
Take Channel Seven in Sydney. Here’s the proposed Seven News Sydney team:
Sundays to Thursdays
News: Mark Ferguson
Sport: Mark Beretta
Weather: Angie Asimus
Fridays and Saturdays
News: Michael Usher
Sport: Matt Shirvington
Weather: Sally Bowrey
Will that mean leaving Sunrise?

7 News Sydney Team
Weeknights:
News: Michael Usher & Mel Doyle
Sport: Matt Shirvington
Weather: Angie Asimus
Weekends:
News: Mark Ferguson & Ann Sanders
Sport: Mel McLaughin
Weather: Sally Bowrey
Do you mean “weekends” for the second group of people?
Unlikely to ever happen, but…
Seven Early News
Michael Usher
Seven Morning News
Mark Ferguson (in real life, I believe he did present the Morning News sporadically while at Nine)
Seven Afternoon News Sydney
Mon-Thu: Edwina Bartholomew (news), Mark Beretta (sport), Sam Mac (weather)
Friday: Sally Bowrey (news), Matt Shirvington (sport), James Tobin (weather)
Seven News Sydney
Sundays-Thursdays: Chris Reason (news), Mark Beretta (sport), Sam Mac (weather)
Fridays-Saturdays: Natalie Barr (news), Matt Shirvington (sport), James Tobin (weather)
The Latest
Jodie Speers
Mark Beretta would certainly boost Seven News Sydney’s sport department.
Incorporating the changes to Seven News you made in your post, what would you do to Sunrise then?
for Sunrise…
Weekdays
Michael Usher (Mon-Thu)/Matt Doran (Fri) and Angela Cox
News: Angie Asimus
Sport: Mel McLaughlin
Weather: Jane Bunn (from Melbourne)
Weekends
Matt Doran and Monique Wright
News, sport and weather: Sally Bowrey
The Morning Show
Larry Emdur and Sonia Kruger
Kylie Gillies gets redeployed to presenting sport on Seven Morning News
Another alternative is to have Angie Asimus present the Early News in place of Michael Usher.
Do we really need that sort of rubbish during the 6pm bulletin? That stuff is better left for A Current Affair!
Might do a proper Nine News Sydney mock bulletin rundown at some point, although my vision for Sydney’s highest rating television news service would likely be a lot more detailed. I’d probably even want to slightly rejig the way segments and report intros are presented to give them a more conversational edge.
If I could radically shake-up Seven’s presenting roster, not taking into account presenters abilities, program ratings etc.

Don’t think it’ll resonate with the Aus public though seeing this is almost 100% Sydney centric
