Looks like things are ramping up next week. Hopefully it doesn’t get bumped by then. I am enjoying this show more every episode. It is much better than The Summit was.
Noticed some MDI promos now usuing the standard V/O (Matt Wills), with the newer/gravelly/loud/blokey one dumped - he also does AFL promos.
Pretty strong promotion this weekend, I guess they are going to double down and put up a fight for this one.
Despite Seven’s promotional push, on a very competitive night Million Dollar Island continued to underperform and was at a season low last night. Hard to com back from here, also considering the catch up numbers for the show are very low for a reality franchise.
Shame it’s not rating. I actually like the show.
I do find it a bit setup that the bloke with the beard had the number land magically land for him to get the power. I mean he has been a producer favourite since the get go.
They do a good job keeping production and other cameras out of the filming. Does look like a few scenes are filmed twice looking at a few angles.
I assumed the producers show more of the contestants who end up going a long way into the contest.
He will be in the final 3 or 5 or however it works.
Yeah I don’t mind it.
The thing that I didn’t like last night though was how quickly they wiped out a tribe with only an opportunity for 1 person to stay on. Some contestants from other tribes quit but for some reason they couldn’t give their bracelet to the losing tribe members, which I thought was really unfair and inconsistent with the first few episodes.
Also the amount of quitters on this show is mind blowing. We get little explanation too. For example that Tim guy we saw him really fighting to stay last week and then suddenly he’s walking out voluntarily. It’s happened a couple times now with people who seemed to really want to be there then suddenly they just conk out.
Yeah and even last night for it to land on someone that it already has before… really low odds of that happening.
Standard sort of stuff in reality TV these days. Producers dictate the whole thing. These group challenges you see often take a a whole day to film.
I find the characters more and more unlikeable as the show goes on. The format starts to get tedious as well.
Brett is literally unbearable. I don’t know how they just let him win tonight when he could’ve been knocked out so easily.
The game is about to be flipped on its head!
D-Day is coming to Million Dollar Island
In an explosive week of Million Dollar Island, the remaining 45 contestants plot to keep their friends close and their enemies starving. And in a tense survival challenge, camp rivalry threatens to boil over before a shocking revelation at elimination changes the game forever.
Alliances and friendships have been formed with contestants battling each other and starvation for the life-changing $1 million prize pot on Million Dollar Island. But in this game of survival, the enemy is closer than they think, with betrayal and deceit only a challenge away.
Having won the wheel spin advantage, forty-two-year-old furniture removalist Jake will play for the biggest prize to date. But when it comes to nominations, will he choose money over friendship?
And D-Day has arrived for players with a single wristband. Having played their game from the shadows until now, they’re pushed into the limelight. Will they fly or fall?
On Million Dollar Island, alliances mean everything, and friendships are worth a fortune. Ultimately, a nail-biting final challenge will help determine who walks away with their share of the $1 million prize.
Million Dollar Island is hosted by Ant Middleton and produced by award-winning Eureka Productions.
I thought they were going to flick this to another channel when I saw this.
We can only dream.
Starve them out!
Food is fortune on Million Dollar Island
“Hangry” skyrockets to extraordinary heights on Million Dollar Island next week when hunger becomes the number one enemy, igniting questions about morality between warring camps.
One hundred players started and 33 now remain. With food supplies dwindling, one camp has its last meal and prepares itself for battle, but will they become targets in the Arena?
“We’re at ground zero, officially. We’ve got nothing at all,” says Vine camp cook Kylie about the lack of food in their camp.
“There are two key players in there who want us to starve to death and walk our butts out of here,” says Kylie, alluding to Brett and Jack’s steadfast refusal to share Log camp’s supplies.
With food scarce and energy levels at an all-time low for Vine camp, emotions reach boiling point setting both camps on a collision course.
And in an emotional elimination ceremony, two friends face a heartbreaking dilemma when they find each other on opposite sides of the game.
On Million Dollar Island, alliances mean everything, and friendships are worth a fortune. Ultimately, a nail-biting final challenge will help determine who walks away with their share of the $1 million prize.
I doubt he has much to stand on with his claims and would have signed various waivers when joining the show. The challenge required them to run into the jungle and collect coconuts. It’s not like the producers would be expected to completely clear the jungle of every possible thing that could cause injury. You are starving yourself on an island and doing these sorts of challenges by your choice. My recollection of it as well was that when he hit his head, he seemed eager to continue with the challenge but was pulled off.
Anyway this show is getting better the more than it goes on. It is getting very cut throat as the numbers go down the way people are using food as leverage. I loved the way they pretty much wiped out that camp that wouldn’t share food. Een after all these episodes and as the numbers go down, there are still just a lot of people that you feel like you are seeing for the first time. I guess everyone will have their time when they are up for a challenge.
Not as bad a show as the ratings would suggest but why couldn’t 7 find an Aussie to host the show? That Ant guy is unbearable, as are some of the contestants. The tasks are very derivative of Survivor. Quite enjoying it after being ‘forced’ to watch it by my partner. Just a side note… why do 7 advertise so many ancient shows on 7+?
Works for them with them having the #1 BVOD service in Australia and contributing a fair portion of their yearly revenue now.
Does it mean there will only be one episode of Million Dollar Island for that week? Since Seven will show Animals Aboard with Dr Harry on the 19th.
