Metro Radio Ratings - Survey 6, 2026

Firstly, Gold probably still plays some of the 80s tracks that Magic would also play, but it is easier to convince someone to tune in to FM than AM for any type of music.

If nothing can be done to improve the ratings, then perhaps it is time for Magic and 3MP to cease transmission on AM and go digital only.

There’s no need for them to rush to cease AM transmission. It takes time to convert listeners to DAB and Online.

Apparently 4BH has around 60% of listeners on DAB/Online, but I doubt Magic and 3MP would be up to that yet.

I also highly doubt there’s much overlap with Gold these days, and it will progressively be less and less. It will take time to convert older Gold listeners to Magic and 3MP, and they won’t be converting back to AM listening, they’ll be migrating to DAB and Online mostly.

From my limited listing, Gold’s playlist seems to getting newer and newer while Magic is still back to the 1960s to '80s with some more recent tracks scattered in.

Seven is owned by a radio network now, hence the focus on SCA stations in that report.
