Well, the good news for ARN is that COC didn’t lose much in Melbourne from the networking and they can feel vindicated at reinstating the breakfast show in Brissie.

Gold Melbourne took a small hit for having a talk show on drive while Sydney took a hit for the new networked show, although not an awful result.

Smooth and KIIS Sydney extremely stable while 2day and MMM jumped in Sydney.

Jase and Lauren a massive jump again.

ABC Melbourne dropped 1.2 at breakfast. Not an ideal result for Sharnelle Vella who went on maternity leave after the survey. Rafael Epstein had a small increase in mornings.

The big winner was Jase and Lauren who had an astonishing rise of 2.3 to reclaim top spot in breakfast. Fox and Triple M also posted gains in the timeslot.

Big 3-point drop for Nova in Brisbane to single figure - 8% including down 3.6 at breakfast and 4.6 in the afternoon. 4BC down as well by 0.9 and in all time slots. Rst of commercials improved. KIIS had the biggest gain 1.3, but MMM also up by 1 and B105 and 4BH improved as well. MMM and KIIS both up +2 points in breakfast with Nova down 3.6.

Has Fifi stopped ranting about crime? is that perhaps why Fox has bounced back a bit?

Clearly a good result as it shows the program needs her?

Down almost 4 points in a pretty stable (at the time) market is not a great result.

Can’t write it off completely, especially given the implosion at KIIS. But if it doesn’t lift by the end of the year they need to pull the cord.

Christian is a different beast to Kyle. He is extremely client friendly, a lot cheaper and makes sense for their brand going a bit younger than before. I think he will grow with a slightly younger audience.

TOTAL RADIO

Melbourne’s 3AW and Sydney’s 2GB have started 2026 on top of the Breakfast radio ratings – winning the most important shift in the biggest cities.

Today’s GfK Survey 1 ratings for 2026 show Australians turn to Nine Radio for trusted news and entertainment, with Ben Fordham Live (2GB) and Breakfast with Ross and Russ (3AW) winning the crucial Breakfast battle and being the clear No.1 shows.

Results today cover the survey period from January 18 to February 28. 3AW is the outright No.1 radio station in Melbourne, while 2GB has grown its audience and is the No.1 talk radio station in Sydney.

2GB Highlights

  • 2GB is the No.1 talk radio in Sydney with a 12.2 share
  • Ben Fordham Live is No.1 in Breakfast and has increased his audience to a 16.6 share
  • Mornings with Mark Levy is No.1 talk in Sydney with a 14.1 share (up from 13.0) and has seen his cume audience increase by 88,000 listeners

3AW Highlights

  • 3AW is the clear No.1 station for Melburnians, delivering a 13.8 share
  • Ross and Russ claimed the No.1 Breakfast position with a 19.4 share
  • Mornings with Tom Elliott was No.1 with a 15.7 share

Greg Byrnes, Nine Radio’s National Content Manager, said: "These results are fantastic and pave the way for another dominant year for our audio business. It’s great to see Ben Fordham increase his listeners in Sydney on his number one breakfast show, resulting in big gains right across the day on 2GB. 3AW has long been Melbourne’s most listened-to radio station, and starts 2026 as the clear number one overall, and in Breakfast and Mornings.

“While the changes we’ve made in Brisbane and Perth will take time to resonate, today’s big increases on 6PR are pleasing to see. Australia knows it can rely on us for trusted news, opinion, and entertainment, and we’re committed to delivering again throughout 2026.”

We are continually refining the app experience, and features like the audio sync during the footy have been an outstanding success.”

“Streaming is the best way to engage our live and local content, it sounds great, is always on and ensures you’re always informed and up to date.”

Something about running a different log that ARN only just worked out? Great result for KIIS Brisbane, only 1.3 behind Triple M now. Funny considering MMM & KIIS seem to be having similar logs as of late

Game Changers’ fawning over Nova Brisbane couldn’t save them it seems.

Lucky if radio ratings got a mention in recent years on TV. Looks like that will change temporarily thanks to recent events. Now they are breaking news  not matter how relevant. KandJO ratings were earlier mentioned at 9.30am when the numbers came out.

Probably a long time since that figure is down across the board.

Sydney drawing huge crowd back. Looks like their offerings aren’t that bad anymore.

Wonder if the addition of Gold & 97.3’s new log hurt River

Listening to the breakfast podcast it’s approaching being boring IMO - it’s apparent how Ash was doing some pretty significant heavy lifting
