Actually, Annabel Crabb is a good suggestion! Especially for the mix of serious for the Monday main show and Media Bites on Thursday.
Stuart was a great host but his style is probably too serious for this day and age. Having said that his critical style would be great for critiquing most of the questionable practices of the Murdoch press.
Crabb would be good, however bridges would be burned.
Bitch stop stealing my posts
Terrible habit. I’ll try to stop. No promises hehe
Send nudes as compo kthxbi xx
Nick Tabakoff in The Australian is reporting Sky’s Chris Kenny has offered to host Media Watch for nothing until Paul Barry is well enough to return.
With a temporary title change to Lefty Media Watch? A truly impartial critique of the media. And by the media I mean the ABC, which would be 99% of the show.
I can’t believe that is a serious article.
lol.
I would have preferred using a previous host like Holmes or Attard. Rather than someone who won’t be able to be as meaty in terms of criticism and comment.
It’s surely the same Producers/EP. The script would already be written. It’s just the Presenter who adds a bit of spark to it.
The host would write a lot of it and have a huge amount of input. It’s not merely written for Paul as he wanders in on a Monday afternoon.
Now come on. This is the ABC.
Or someone from RN who already does specialist/analysis shows like Richard Aedy or Scott Stephens or whoever does the Law Report
Like I said, Jeremy is probably the easiest to get backup host, given Sydney’s situation and the short notice. Next week and onwards we will see probably a more first-choice host.
you don’t reckon??
While I’m sure the host of Media Watch does have a significant role in what stories are run that week, at the same time there’d also have to be a whole team of producers/researchers who are constantly on the lookout for potential story material? And of course, tip-offs from viewers have also played a valuable contribution to the program over the years.
Look at the poster who I was replying to, they clearly think as much. Your childish reply isn’t necessary, even for someone as young as you are.
29? what?
but really, Paul’s content would be mostly arranged by a producer and he’d front up, hence why a substitute host is going to, for the most, just slot right in.
does raise the question though, has there ever been a fill in host before?
I think Paul Barry filling in for Jonathan Holmes in 2010 may be the only time that Media Watch has had a fill-in host during it’s three decade+ history.
