Who the hell called it a “news voice”?
Something about a fat dope reading Nine News at the SCG one time. And no I’m not calling anyone fat… that was the name of the upload
I remember that…but don’t recall anyone calling it a news voice. I have a face for radio and a voice for newspapers.
thank god posters like him and Firetorch are long gone.
If you’re referring to Big Dan…he’s still here.
I should get my name changed back just to nark the haters around here.
flashbacks to spending hours non-stop arguing with him about Donald Trump
Triggered.
Whatever happened to him/her/it?
It’s weird eh. It’s not like this is an airport lounge where you need to announce departures but sometimes you do wonder what has happened to prolific posters that just stop posting.
Reuder7 another one, although from memory he had paused posting before the shift to Discourse.
There’s others I’m forgetting to.
Most likely due to disagreements with others, that seems to happen a bit on web forums and social media sites, not just here.
Oh yeah. I can think of a couple of members that curtailed their posting when they were either put on mod queue or felt their views were not being “appreciated” by the rest of the board.
The weirder one for me was echo53/modecko, who stopped posting after winning lotto - which made him assess his life priorities.
Also Commander Slicer - another who disappeared.
Australian Spartan was the greatest show ever, you jerk.
There are members here I feel don’t appreciate my views, but I’m still here. Because I love being an arsehole to them. I know I give them the shits.
That and/or because people simply have lost interest and made an active decision to move onto other things. Some have gone after a reasonably short time, but on the flipside there’s still people here who’ve been around Australian media discussion circles on the internet for longer than I have!

that seems to happen a bit on web forums and social media sites, not just here.
You’re right. The phenomenon of people with prolific online presences suddenly disappearing certainly isn’t exclusive to Media Spy.

Also Commander Slicer - another who disappeared.
He was around Media Spy for a long time, at least a decade I’m pretty sure.

Australian Spartan was the greatest show ever, you jerk.
Ahh yes…I don’t think I’ll be able to forget that former Media Spy member in a hurry.
Hopefully he’s now enjoying life away from the internet.

There are members here I feel don’t appreciate my views, but I’m still here.
Ditto.
While it’d be fair to say I don’t agree with you 100% of the time, at the very least I can say you’re keeping Media Spy interesting!

It’s not like this is an airport lounge where you need to announce departures
Paging passenger @OnAir …

Most likely due to disagreements with others, that seems to happen a bit on web forums and social media sites, not just here.
People argue all the time. Instead of disappearing the correct course of action is setup up their own sites where they can do what they want… not that I would know anything about that

That and/or because people simply have lost interest and made an active decision to move onto other things.
That’s pretty much what happens. Also it would seem that most active posters are usually (not all) young with a bit of free time on their hands. As people get older and life takes over they don’t have as much time for it anymore.

There are members here I feel don’t appreciate my views, but I’m still here.
Same for me. That’s one thing about getting older… you stop caring what others think. I’ll add my piece and if people don’t agree that’s fine.
For some of us (myself included), I think we have to credit MediaSpy as an ‘inspiration’ for entering the industry and fueling that interest.
This afternoon I was sorting through some of my media files (there’s close to 1,000 just in that folder alone, lol) on my external hard-drive and I happened to stumble across 20-minutes worth of recordings of the old Media Spy forum from December 2015.
I thought I would bring it up as very few of the topics off the old forum were archived on Archive.Org, so I am just interested to know if people would be interested to see them uploaded and shared on here?
Surprised to see myself at various points throughout that video too. I completely forgot my name was Nicholaz. Cringe
