Media Spy: History and Memories

Happy 10 Years to MediaSpy 2.0!

It was on this day 10 years ago that Media Spy made the move to Discourse.

Since then, there has been so many changes to the media industry - 10 went into administration and was purchased by CBS, Kyle and Jackie O invaded Melbourne, Cricket went to Seven, Tennis went to Nine, Neighbours got axed twice, cuts to regional news bulletins, the rise of MAFS, COVID-19, WIN inflicting Mappy on the country, LukeMovieMan becoming @Sully

However, some things stay the same, like Fergo, against the odds, still being on the weeknight chair in Sydney, Perth is still a cult that watches Rick and Sue like there is no other news service, @Nicholas fainting whenever 10 brings out the sweeping camera shots, and Rob Brough (Bort) still having the best wink in the country

Special thanks of course have to go to the mods, both past and present - @OnAir, @bacco007, @Steve, @WAtvVideos, @TelevisionAU, Bort, NewsWeary, and Squee, for their hard work keeping the site tidy, occasionally (and rightfully) pulling us into line if we are in the wrong, remembering to pay the hosting bills, and most important of all - feeding the hamsters that power this site.

Also additional thanks to @TV.Cynic, who works 24/7 to do everything from getting caps of a minor graphics failure on a late night update in Cairns, to compiling the daily ratings reports, including expert analysis on the data.

However, what makes any community special, or unique, are the people in it, so I just want to say thanks to all of you for helping create this place where we can come, shitpost about the media (and other random stuff), and also, take the piss out of each other (or at least @ElCapitanCranky and @Radiohead while the rest of us watch on with popcorn).

Looking forward to the next 10 years as we continue to discuss the whatever comes next.

P.S. based on some of the discussion in this thread, I think we have also reached 25 years of MediaSpy overall.
