I remember Mike from his commentary for Seven’s coverage of Australian Touring Car Championship in the 1990s, as well as his voiceover for TV ads for local motorsport events which always ended with “Beee There!!”
In Sydney Mike Raymond did the television commercials for the “Parramatta Speedway, Granville Showgrounds, Clyde” and “The Place of Pace, Liverpool Raceway”. I can’t remember if he did the ads for the old Westmead Speedway at the Parramatta Showgrounds. Westmead Hospital was built on the site in the mid 1970s.
Mike Raymond was ATN 7’s sports director for many years and also presented sport on Seven News during the late 1980s, around the time Roger Climpson returned. His whacky “Thank God It’s Friday” sports bloopers segment was quite popular.
