Seven is reporting that former broadcaster and senator, Derryn Hinch has passed away at the age of 82.
Tyler is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Robert Sullivan, who is Zeta-Jones’s cousin.
By all accounts Derryn got a laugh out of those skits.
Apparently there was a story of one time after filming they forgot to switch banners and an episode of Hinch has produced with the Hunch banner.
Hinch also played a version of himself in the Wog Boy movies. And suited that role.
Sad to see him go ![]()
I was not particularly a fan of Hinch but he had a couple of years at 3AK in the morning shift in the early 2000s and i listened quite a bit then. He was never afraid to call out his bosses and station management over the merry-go-round of changes made at the ill-fated station during his time there. He also led 3AK’s coverage in the immediate aftermath of September 11, 2001.
And of course one of his controversies was outing the late Graham Kennedy and alleging that “the King” had died of AIDS. Medical records refuted that allegation, though Hinch reportedly stood by the claim.
Wasn’t funny then and still not funny now .
RIp Derrin Hinch
IIRC Derryn took the parody in good humour. I think he made a guest appearance on Fast Forward at least once.
This is his commentary of the Apollo 11 take-off for radio 2GB in 1969
