Two sad losses for the AFL family today
Sad news for anyone who watched TV in the 70s and 80s…
Gee it’s heartbreaking reading stories like these of 40-something year old men dying with the Lifeline disclaimer at the end.
A coroner will not publicly reveal how celebrity chef Jock Zonfrillo died, after his body was found in a Melbourne hotel room in 2023.
There had been no official word on his cause of death since he was found almost two years ago, but it has now been revealed a coroner’s investigation was completed on August 27, 2024.
“At the close of the investigation, the coroner determined that the finding would not be published,” a Coroners Court of Victoria spokesperson said.
In Victoria not all coronial findings are required to be published, and a coroner may determine that non-publication is in the public interest.
Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins and his wife Becky have welcomed their second child, a baby girl named Edi.
“She’s here,” Becky Cummins posted on Instagram with a picture of the newborn being cuddled by her mum. “Our beautiful baby girl, Edi … Words can’t describe how overjoyed & full of love we feel right now.”

Long tribute:
Radio and TV great Philip Brady loses battle with cancer
Radio and TV great Philip Brady, who worked with the likes of Graham Kennedy, Bert Newton and Don Lane in an entertainment career that stretched more than 60 years, has lost his brave battle with cancer.
The 3AW favourite passed away peacefully in Kew in the early hours of Tuesday, February 11 after a short battle with cancer.
Brady was diagnosed with cancer on December 5 and hosted what was to be his final episode of his Remember When Sunday night show on 3AW on January 12.
He shared his terminal cancer diagnosis with his close friends, but did not want his loyal listeners and longtime fans to be aware of his rapidly declining health until he had passed.
WHO indeed
WA Bachelorette star Brooke Blurton found out she was pregnant just days after splitting up with the winner of her season, Darvid Garayeli.
The 30-year-old made the pregnancy revelation while discussing having children on a recent episode of her podcast First Things First.
Blurton revealed the couple had been trying for a baby and just days after they suddenly broke up in 2022, she found out she was expecting.
Mitchell, who is competing in Australian Survivor: Brains v Brawn II, revealed last November that she is expecting.
According to The Sunday Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield, former rugby league commentator Kerry Buckeridge had passed away. Buckeridge sat alongside Ray Warren to call the first ever Amco Cup game in 1974 on Channel 10. He was a very good caller who started his career at radio station 2LF in Young – the same station from where Warren, Ken Sutcliffe and ABC legend John O’Reilly began their journey.
