Saw the first episode of Celebrity Mastermind tonight. It is certainly wilder and more relaxing than the original version. However it seems SBS still struggled to get more audience to the recordings. I think it didn’t do enough to promote the show on social media to attract people to apply for tickets.
coming from someone who hasn’t watched many “normal episodes” of the show in 2019, i quite enjoyed this Celebrity Version. Seemed really relaxed, and with a good variety of topics, questions and celebrities.
Got me hooked, and will watch more celebrity versions in the coming Saturdays, and will try break habits throughout the year, when Mastermind returns, and watch it at 6pm (trying to break away from the 6pm news on the other channels…)
No, it’s some of Nazeem’s antics during the episode (he brought in a mango to the studio!). They also showed a video from Nazeem’s appearance on Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa in which the comedian rapped the first 50 digits of pi (although he conceded he made up some of those digits).
The normal season started tonight (Monday 24 Feb) at 6pm. I am glad that they are showing new stuff at 6pm against the News (on 7, 9 and now on 10). But sadly, the ratings are going to be terrible.
Anyone know if they’ll repeat the episodes on the weekend, either on SBS or on Viceland?
And please note that the Celebrity version wont be on air this Saturday due to the Mardis Gras.
At the end of tonight’s episode Jennifer mentioned it was the last episode due to Coronavirus restrictions and production would resume in the near future.
Starting Monday 15 June the series will be repeated from the beginning (season 1 episode 1).
Doesn’t the show usually have a low audience turnout anyway? If so, couldn’t they have continued filming? Has there been any word if they returned to filming the current season?
Wonder why they specifically put a call out that producers are currently seeking potential First Nations contestants. A spcifically themed episode or are they trying to be more diverse?
