MasterChef Australia

Very surprised to see Meghan appear on the show. Definitely a big get for the show.

Don’t forget that the then Prince Charles and Camilla were on MasterChef… back in 2018.

These celebrity guests feel a bit desperate to me.

Are they jumping the shark, or will this boost the show? :man_shrugging:

For a split second I thought the “Surprise Chef” caption meant that they had secured the services of Aristos!

Meghan does have her own cooking show on Netflix, so I think it’s quite different to Katy’s appearance (which was just a random appearance from a pop star).

They have guest judges all the time, so not sure why this one would be jumping the Shark. This is just a very big name one and like I mentioned, she at least she does have a cooking show. So she has reason to be there.

Katy Perry made sense, her song is the theme song.

Fair enough, Meghan has a cooking show… What connection does Robert Irwin and Jimmy Barnes have?

Did Andy quit?

I bet they filmed her appearance with just the judges in the room. There will be some clever editing

Paternity Leave.

You can see the contestants on the balcony - but they couldn’t show them so as not to spoil the season. The contestant’s reactions was also discussed on the 10 News+ segment.

Tbf though she is someone who was really just paid to do a show about cooking and now she is making a appearance on master chef as a guests judge when she is not a professional cook….

Ffs just get over it! Just because the British gutter press didn’t like Meghan doesn’t mean we all have to spread the hate. I am looking forward to seeing her on Masterchef.

Jimmy Barnes and his wife have written a couple of cookbooks, does that qualify them? Robert is a 10 celebrity so that’s probably why he’s on. Does everyone who appears have to be in the industry?

Yes, in the past. Obviously not now.

Why on earth would they do that? That doesn’t even make any sense.

It’s pretty obvious that they wouldn’t show contestants in any of this footage as it would completely spoil the show. The season is still being filmed and would be in it’s very final stages, so there wouldn’t be many of them left.

Paramount ANZ’s head of unscripted, Sarah Thornton, said the format change reflects both a return to the show’s origins and an evolution in how audiences engage with food content.

“We’ve returned to our roots a little bit this year, which I really love: we’re showing parts of the audition process again, but in a new way,” she said.

“So, Marty (EndemolShine Australia’s director of content) and the team came up with a really clever idea: bringing the audition process into the MasterChef kitchen and making the first week the battle for the apron. And so, I do think we’re kind of, we’re nodding to the heritage while also looking forward to the future.”

10 seem to be promoting this quite heavily, saw some digital advertisements for this and The Cheap Seats at Brisbane’s Central Station

Also saw the 30 second ad play on a video wall on platform 1/2 with captions by 10… but the end board was 7.00 tonight. It’s Saturday 10. Good one

10 had also invited a group of podcasters and social media influencers to cook in the MC kitchen at Melbourne Showgrounds for a mystery box challenge. They cooked in pairs and had to create a dish in 75 minutes. People who took part included radio host Mitch Churi. If you look up their Instagram accounts there is a video featuring their own cooking highlights.

Thy have to because no one sees their promos on their channel as they barely rate at all these days. It’s actually become quite dire this year. They don’t have 1 show that gets any eyeballs.

I still don’t think Masterchef will do that well either. Probably 400-500k each night. Pretty poor. No mass audiences for 10.

Wasn’t it Jimmy Rees aka Jimmy Giggle?

Jimmy Rees was also there.
