MasterChef Australia

That was a good pressure test. Ben looked gone when he struggled with his first batch of pasta not pasta which he ended up using anyway after putting it through a sieve, it was a great comeback even if he did get some help from one of the judges about a missing ingredient.

I though everyone knew that Ben wasn’t going to be eliminated last night due to the news stories going around.

And once the judges praised Poh’s re-creation of pasta not pasta, I knew Rose was gone.

Tonight’s mystery box challenge took place at Wakley Crescent Reserve in Wantirna South in Melbourne’s outer east. If you look closely in the background in the first few minutes of the episode, you can see the street signs.

However, when Jock told contestants they could grab another ingredient from Coles “down the road”, they had to travel to The Glen (my local shopping centre). Since it was a working day, a few people might have seen the contestants running into the supermarket in the morning.

So in reality Knox City shopping centre, which has two Coles would have been far closer , no doubt did The Glen because of the refurb.

I like Poh. But the storyline of her ‘almost not going to make it’ and ‘is in trouble’ is getting tiring.

Not only of the refurbishment, but also The Glen store is less crowded than the Knox City Coles.

Tonight’s immunity challenge took place at Ganbare Kaz Japanese restaurant at Chapel Street, Windsor in inner Melbourne.

Another Japanese restaurant Tokyo Tina, which featured in the team challenge in season 7, is about 1km south.

Photos for this MC article in this week’s New Idea were taken outside Ganbare Kaz.

I love this place. Isn’t far from where I used to live.

That promo gives away part of the result of tonight’s mystery box i.e. who would make it to the immunity challenge.

I think the twists of this week’s episodes so far. Forcing teams to switch kitchens with one hour left in prep time (Monday) and taking away the recipes during pressure test (Tuesday) tested the contestants’ creativity and intuition. The pressure test proved why Jess and Reynold are dessert specialists.

Katy Perry was trending on Twitter last night after 10’s latest promo was posted online. Looks like there will be tens of thousands of Katy Perry fans tuning in tonight from around the world (mostly via VPN) for the challenge.
And there will be a MasterClass tonight, with Jock making a tarte tatin.

Same. I am not watching the series as much as I was. I got a bit bored. But I will tune back in tonight.

What? Katy Perry is going to be on the show? No way! 10 should have advertised it! Hehe

Am actually looking forward to it too. The contestants wouldn’t have the slightest idea she was coming in. Twists Week is a good idea.

Think tonight will probably reach a season high, especially when you consider that the competition is triple Home and Away/RBT/movie on the other networks plus the Katy Perry factor.
