Married at First Sight

I wonder if they will move to 2 seasons per year. With revenue declining and earnings under pressure, would definitely be a big boost to 9’s bottom line running another season Aug-Oct ish with filming earlier in the year.

This isn’t just a TV show anymore, it’s pretty much become a business.

The Block already does monster business for them at exact time :man_shrugging:

If Nine acquires the rights to Second Marriage at First Sight, that will remove the need for another season for the year.

The Block tried continuing that momentum after their 2-season anniversary year. IMO, it burned out pretty quickly.

Scott leaves the commitment ceremony looking for Gia

Then leaves the building and appears to be wearing different coloured pants

His whole conversation with the producer and him being filmed leaving in the lift looked so forcefully done it was almost embarrassing.

We know it’s all a manipulated reality anyway, but :face_with_peeking_eye::laughing:

You got to love the bad editing for this show. Different pants in one ep. The amount of alcohol changing in dinner scenes multiple times in - in previous seasons.

I’m not convinced that shot is a full retake. Maybe it’s more obvious in the actual footage but from the pics alone it could easily just be lighting or post‑production filtering. I did a race recently in bright blue shorts and every professional photo made them look purple because of the filters they used. The lighting in that lift looks similar to the colour of the pants in that shot too.

What is wearing thin this season is all the running away. We’ve had Brook, Tyson, Juliette and Gia all storm out of commitment ceremonies. At this point they should just lock the door. Now Gia again has done a runner from the experiment. Honestly she is so painful to watch and I’d be happy for her to not come back.

I also don’t like how every season there’s always one or two contestants who seem to get away with constant and blatant spoiling of the show. It’s usually the villains who don’t like their edit that do this (like Jacqui last season). Gia was on radio a couple of weeks ago talking through text messages that only aired this week, and she’s openly discussing a boyfriend in interviews. It feels intentional. Surely the show has contracts strong enough by now to stop this kind of thing.

It was fairly obvious on last week’s Stan’s MAFS After the Dinner Party, by what Scott said, that he and Gia are not together. Someone said she was out the back and he acted like he would be scared to face her. Hopefully her walking out last night was not a stunt for publicity and she’s really gone.

I agree that Gia is toxic but so is Bec and she seems to escape to much wrath from the “experts”. Hopefully she gets lots of push back for her disgusting behaviour on tonight’s dinner party.

I’m sorry to see the two guys having problems. Thought MAFS had got the gay couple right, finally.

The MAFS Funny Podcast has an enlightening episode on Chris’ history immediately before coming onto MAFS and developments after the experiment.

Also the fact he became fast besties with Gia was a hint at his true personality. Sam deserved much better.

Agree. Chris is in the mean girl bucket to me. He always seems to be hanging out with them.

This season is an absolute shambles. Would have to be the worse.

And poor, Sam. He deserves so much more respect and appreciation from Chris. After seeing the previews for Sunday, my heart sank.

I watched ‘After the dinner party’ for the first time tonight. The show basically focused on how Gia’s behaviour was actually a lot worse than we’ve seen on the show:

- There were a lot of audio recordings played that were prior to commitment ceremony (not on camera), showing how manipulative Gia really was to Juliette. She completely set Juliette up to take Bec down and made comments to Chris that it was ok for them to just sit back and let her take the fall because Juliette was planning on leaving anyway.

- There was commentary from Chris at the dinner party to the camera (alongside Gia) where they both viciously ridiculed Sam for being cheap and for living in a “share house”. The way they spoke about him was just nasty.

- Scott came on and spoke about how Gia has openly spoiled the show in the public including her new boyfriend. Scott was not impressed and said that everyone else has sucked it up for 3 months. He also seemed visibly upset with how he was treated by Gia towards the end of the season.

- They also mentioned that Gia has declined coming on the show 5 weeks in a row now. She has apparently agreed to appear next week but with a lot of conditions, inuding no Bec or Danny being there and no lie detectors.

After exposing her this week with all of those unseen clips of her being the puppet master, I’m fully expecting her to throw a wobbly and not turn up next week.

Even before this week’s episode, there’s no way for her to keep her hands clean on the after party show because there’s no minions she can hide behind to do her dirty work.

Robbie Williams was interviewed by Ricki Lee and Tim Blackwell on Nova and revealed what he likes about MAFS Australia.

Thank you Australia for your lack of psych tests for the contestants (for any reality show) you put in. Just your lack of care for these people. I just gotta thank you for the entertainment. It doesn’t exist anywhere else on the planet right now. They’re all about, better take care of their wellbeing. You just go “Fuck that! Put these idiots in.” These idiots on the brink, psychos on the brink and you’re just “Yes, you”. Thank you Australia. Thank you Australia because MAFS Australia has gotta be the pinnacle of reality TV show success.

Why wasn’t this shown on the main channel program?

I guess because these aren’t things that would usually make the cut of a commitment ceremony, as we see what happens on the couch in front of the experts.

‘After the dinner party’ pieced together 4 different sets of conversations from Gia to different people that were recorded (but not filmed) when mics were on during breaks, to show how she literally set up multiple people for what eventuated that night.

They also played them with Alissa on the couch to get her reaction on how calculated Gia was behind the scenes. Even Alissa herself was shocked at the level she had been going.

That could mean the current season will finish in the week beginning April 12, based on last year’s pattern.

Homestays week.
