They’ve gone out of their way with weirdoes this season! Not all weddings have taken place yet and the drama is already at 100%.
EPISODE 5:
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 8 AT 7.00PM AEDT ON CHANNEL 9 & 9NOW
After a dramatic week of weddings, the final two couples prepare to enter the experiment and marry at first sight.
First up are STELLA and FILIP, matched on their shared commitment to growth, family and long-term love. STELLA, a beauty technician who grew up in Lithuania, is ready to find her perfect match and start a family. FILIP, a carpenter with a strong interest in self-development, has modelled his idea of marriage on his parents’ 40-year relationship and believes he’s ready to settle down. The Experts pair them based on their aligned values and determination to find lasting love.
In a Married At First Sight Australia first, bride JULIA is unsure whether she will be marrying a man or a woman. Open about her journey as a bisexual woman, JULIA is confident in who she is and looking for a partner who is emotionally intelligent, self-aware and ready for lifelong commitment. The Experts ultimately land on GRAYSON, a company director from Queensland who feels something is missing in his life and hopes marriage will make him whole. Their shared values and emotional depth convince the Experts they could be a strong match.
JULIA and GRAYSON wed against the backdrop of the iconic Sydney Opera House. Both arrive hopeful, and when they lock eyes at the altar, the connection feels immediate. Their vows resonate deeply, and with a kiss, they officially enter the experiment.
Across Sydney, it’s also STELLA and FILIP’S wedding day. FILIP arrives ready to leave behind partying and casual dating, determined to find his forever person. First impressions are positive, with STELLA’S guests including close friend JOE cautiously optimistic. When STELLA arrives, the pair share a warm embrace and quickly bond over shared routines, including early mornings and fitness. Their vows reflect mutual readiness for commitment, and FILIP proudly carries STELLA out of the ceremony. However, doubts surface when FILIP mentions his online coaching and YouTube work, leaving JOE questioning whether his intentions are entirely genuine.
At JULIA and GRAYSON’S reception, the couple continue to connect, but JULIA is anxious about revealing her bisexuality, knowing acceptance is non-negotiable. When the topic arises, GRAYSON responds with openness and respect, leaving JULIA relieved and reassured.
Back at STELLA and FILIP’S reception, concerns intensify. Friends LEILA and JOE pull STELLA aside, questioning FILIP’S motives and whether his focus on online content signals a desire for exposure rather than love. STELLA appreciates their honesty but remains hopeful.
As the night winds down, JULIA and GRAYSON share a private moment overlooking Sydney Harbour, sealing the evening with a romantic kiss that deepens their spark. Meanwhile, LEILA confronts FILIP directly, pressing him on his intentions. Though FILIP insists he is here for the right reasons and committed to STELLA, LEILA remains unconvinced, ending the night with lingering doubts over whether FILIP is truly in the experiment for love.
This is a show that’s built on drama and fake tears and alcohol ? They know exactly what they do these contestants and scripted to draw in ratings , but I fall for it every time ![]()
If they were seriously concerned about the wellbeing of the contestanfs they could just piss it off ![]()
What awful people! I pity Stella with friends like these!
Has this woman ever watched this show?
Unfortunately not much long lasting love happens.
EPISODE 6:
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 9 AT 7.30PM AEDT ON CHANNEL 9 & 9NOW
After weeks of honeymoons, passion and personality clashes, the couples face their biggest test yet, the first Dinner Party of the experiment.
On honeymoon in Tasmania, STELLA and FILIP waste no time accelerating their romance, while in tropical North Queensland, JULIA and GRAYSON’S once-promising spark shows signs of cooling. In Townsville, the honeymoon chapter closes for self-proclaimed power couple GIA and SCOTT, whose physical connection continues to deepen. Meanwhile in Fiji, BEC and DANNY, still reeling from difficult conversations about intimacy, hope to clear the air before returning to Sydney.
After nine extraordinary weddings, the couples reunite where the experiment truly begins. In Sydney, cynical groom CHRIS prepares for the Dinner Party alongside headstrong model BROOK, but a last-minute wardrobe malfunction sends CHRIS into a diva meltdown. RACHEL and STEVEN arrive on steadier ground after repairing a rocky honeymoon fight, while MEL and LUKE continue to struggle, their lack of spark underscored by awkward conversations and growing emotional distance.
Tensions simmer before the first drink is poured. BEC admits she already has “beef” with GIA, stemming from the Hens’ Night, while GIA openly declares she’s expecting drama and plans to bring it.
STELLA and FILIP are first to arrive, glowing and affectionate. ALISSA and DAVID follow, stronger than ever despite his snow injury, while REBECCA and STEVE impress with warmth and maturity. When BEC and DANNY enter, the mood is light — until BEC privately admits her concern that their connection feels more like friendship, and that GIA may actually be DANNY’S type.
MEL and LUKE arrive next, with LUKE hopeful and MEL heading straight for the bar before candidly confessing he isn’t her physical type. BROOK and CHRIS follow, with CHRIS reluctantly conceding the Experts may have “got it right.” Then comes the room-stopping arrival of GIA and SCOTT, confident and commanding instant attention. A compliment from DANNY toward GIA doesn’t go unnoticed especially by BEC.
As dinner unfolds, honesty flows. RACHEL and STEVEN openly address their honeymoon conflict, earning respect around the table. But the mood shifts when GIA begins boasting about her instant sexual chemistry with SCOTT, provoking BEC into subtle one-upmanship. The rivalry sharpens as the conversation turns to intimacy, jealousy and who’s really as strong as they claim.
By night’s end, alliances have shifted, insecurities are exposed, and the honeymoon glow has well and truly faded. For some couples, the experiment is just getting started and for others, it’s already slipping out of reach.
The ‘not acting’ acting is even more obvious this season.
One podcast that reviews this show has closeups of family members etc at the weddings with earpieces in. Being pushed words no doubt.
Let’s face it. Would this show rate without the orchestrated drama? That’s the big question the producers just wouldn’t want to risk. Just stick to the known and proven formula. That’s just business folks.
I know it’s early days but I was not buying the ‘drama’ that they were trying to create at the dinner party last night, particularly this Bec vs Gia rivalry they were trying to push on us. They literally had only met once before and there wasn’t really any conflict when they did either (just more of a I didn’t really like her, she didn’t really like me vibe). Yet Gia constantly talking about how much she and Bec disliked each other before the dinner, on the way to the dinner, during the dinner… it was a bit much. I assume they must be pushing this conflict because there is more to it further down the line.
The show needs more villains, gaslighting, fat shaming, misogyny, normalising abuse, violent outbursts and outrageous behaviour. If they participants aren’t delivering then the producers need to fake it or fake it better.
It’s fake drama dude lol
