Married at First Sight

Reunion Final

It’s the Reunion Finale, where all the participants gather for the final time to look back at their experiences throughout the experiment after a fiery Dinner Party the night before.

LAUREN and JONATHAN are first in the hot seat and the atmosphere is frosty. JONATHAN arrived at last night’s Cocktail Party hand in hand with none other than ELLIE, the bride he was accused of texting throughout the experiment, but whom he claimed he had no romantic feelings for, and nothing would ever develop. Expert Alessandra doesn’t hold back as she fires question after question at JONATHAN wanting to know why/where/how everything with ELLIE developed given his previous denials. JONATHAN and ELLIE are not apologetic for their newfound love leaving LAUREN humiliated. She and JONATHAN have it out on the couch before leaving on relatively amicable terms, with LAUREN wishing him and ELLIE all the best.

SARA and TIM are next, and after last night’s eruption at the Dinner Party, TIM explains he had second thoughts at Final Vows because of their turbulent relationship. SARA says she was shocked as she thought they had gotten over their issues. After watching their journey package, CASSANDRA fires up calling SARA a liar – which descends into bitter back and forth ending with Expert John stepping in. SARA and TIM declare their strong feelings for one another and leave the couch looking forward to their future together.

Next up are love birds EDEN and JAYDEN. Since leaving the experiment, their love has blossomed and they are happier than ever living their lives outside of the experiment.

Next are TORI and JACK and TORI seems off from the get-go – she has clearly had enough of this experience. They discuss how good they have been since leaving the experiment, and that it’s only being in the group that brings any issues for them. Expert John questions if she has any doubts after watching all of JACK’s mistakes played back, and in true TORI style, she states she has none. When pushed about her experience she tells John she wants to leave, and gets up and walks out for good, taking JACK with her.

Finally, LUCINDA and TIMOTHY open up on the couch. In true LUCINDA style, she brings heart, laughs… and hope. She and TIMOTHY gush about their feelings for one another and reveal they have been in constant contact since the show ended. They clearly have a deep love for each other and after watching their beautiful and heart wrenching journey TIMOTHY reveals there is hope for them in the future.

The length is pretty much on par with other seasons. The format hasn’t really changed for years. This season did feel like it dragged a bit towards the end, probably a lot to do with it going down to 2 episodes for the last 3 weeks (since the Easter non-ratings period). That killed the momentum a bit.

Well that’s a wrap. They only showed 5 or 6 couples in the reunion but I guess there’s not much point going through most of the others. I did think they would have at least shown Jade and Ridge though, given they made it to the end (and by all reports sound like are still together).

I must say Lucinda was an absolute gem and I’ll miss her. I genuinely felt a little emotional with the season all wrapping up with her. She is one of the standouts from MAFS across all seasons and I’m sure that this won’t be the last we see of her.

Isn’t that half the reason these people go on this show? To chase fame afterwards?

Surely not our darling Lu?

You missed the story in the media.

Lucinda Light Tribe’, the platform, which costs $27 per month, will see Lucinda provide a “nurturing space” for people seeking support and guidance by way of Zoom sessions, events and a resources portal.

Yes many people go on the show for that reason but Lucinda is one of the most down to earth, caring and genuine participants the show has had which is why she has been so loved amongst the cast, production and fans. She’s one of the big reasons the show did so well this year as she’s so different to the usual participant.

There were rumors that Lucinda was offered a spot as an expert on NZ MAFS but she declined, stating that " I feel as well that MAFS comes with such criticism and commentary from the public and I just don’t think I want to put myself out on the public chopping block again.". Most people would on the show would have jumped on an offer like that. Whilst it’s not her intention , I’m sure when the right thing comes along we will see her do something in some capacity given her popularity.

She’s running a business and using her skills to help people. She was doing these sorts of things before MAFS too. If she’s leveraging her time on the show to further promote or expand her business there’s nothing wrong with that.

That’s the only reason all these people are there. Exposing themselves and making money from it.

I truely believe some are there for genuine love.

You poor, deluded fool.

Jules and Cam, Johnny and Kerry, Melinda and Lleyton are just some of the genuine people who signed up for the show.

One couple still together.

There’s no point trying to convince people of this that don’t watch the show and just write off everything about/ put it into one bucket. There were both genuine people on this cast as much as there were many non-genuine fame hungry people. Also just because things don’t work out for couples doesn’t mean that they were not genuine either. The likes of Tristan, Cass, Lucinda, Timothy, Richard, Andi (maybe) who’s relationships didn’t work out were all great participants. I believe also that Tori has moved to the Gold Coast to live with Jack…

From what I’ve heard Eden and Jayden, Ridge and Jade and Tori and Eden are the couples still together. Tim and Sara broke up not long after the reunion.

Strange that Nine isn’t showing MAFS encore this afternoon.

I’d say that for Nine, “The Experiment” was a ratings and financial success with an average national audience over 2 million for 7-day consolidated for three days a week and 1.9m for the Tuesday. (The final and dinner party episodes do not have 7day data yet).

Not so much for many of the participants

So could this Lucinda person potentially be a future ‘expert’ on the panel? I don’t watch the sounds like she is a bit different from the stock standard Mafs insta chaser.

She told Fitzy and Wippa in an interview last week that it would not make sense for her to come back as a relationship expert since she is not in a relationship.

It’s been widely reported that (if this was true) she is not interested.

Never say Never. Gives them an option in a few years time if they need someone, assuming she might have some relationship luck in the future.

She’s also stated that she’s not super keen to jump on anything where there is such big public scrutiny. I don’t doubt that she will get a lot of offers knocking at her door though so I’m sure it won’t be the last we see of her in some capacity. She is a marriage celebrant - maybe they could use her next year for one of the weddings.
