Yeah, I vaguely remember getting ABKT-11 from King Island before the analog shutdown.

SC10 Rockhampton received in Brisbane tonight on UHF 36. Long periods of perfect reception.

Edit - still going 2.5 hours later.

Hmm. If this were to be true, would it make more sense for the channels to be named ‘Geelong?’ This is inspired by Gold Coast’s list. Local news from WIN could still be from West VIC but have a dedicated Geelong/Barwon news bulletin on HSV and GTV like Gold Coast News.

That time of year again when Adelaide starts to show up in Renmark

Sadly no more 10 Mildura to try for, being on the spare channel for Adelaide ie VHF 10.

Still have the other ones to try for during much stronger events

Nothing significant but the ‘no service’ icon was coming up on 212.500 MHz in Renmark. Suspecting Mount Dundas/Western Vic since Mildura is now dead on that frequency

Managed to snag SBS Mildura albeit briefly

Nice work getting SBS from Yatpool. I’ve always been interested to see how far out the signal gets since the retune / restack from UHF to VHF a few years back.

As a sidenote, it makes me wonder if back in the analogue days whether Yatpool’s transmissions would have been permanently received in Renmark or not, as there’s definitely some areas in the district that used to be able to receive it either now can’t at all or have to go through a translator site, mainly the far reaches of the municipality.

probably would’ve been possible back when analogue was a thing with big towers. A few homes around town still have some old towers with antennas pointing towards Adelaide and towards Mildura

I reckon regional South Australia would have the tallest TV antennas in the country, in number, maximum height and average height!

I’ve seen some whoppers on Street View.

Understandable given that the offerings of the local stations were, at best, average.

And probably not a lot else to do in some of those towns, particularly back then.

Surprisingly SBS Adelaide was the first to decode tonight in Renmark before the usual 7

I spotted this house in southern Sydney with not one, not two, but three separate UHF aerials for Wollongong.

I don’t really understand why you would need three separate aerials for Wollongong .

Houses immediately next to it only have one UHF aerial for Wollongong, so I don’t think it’s a matter of needing to stack three UHF aerials to be able to get enough signal:

I suspect they are for 3 different TVs, rather than using a splitter?

Possibly. I’m not too far from this house and I split my single Wollongong aerial over 8 outlets and its fine (except for when there’s tropo from Newcastle), so it seems like a strange solution to just put up an extra aerial for each TV . Although they only have one Sydney aerial - so does that mean they only get Sydney channels on one TV?

It’s interesting how many Wollongong aerials there are around where I am given Sydney signals come in fine. Especially since it’s not so reliable - getting prone to being wiped out by tropo.

8 TVs? Wow! I only have two.
