Get ready to dig deep and donate to the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation as all the fun and excitement of the Gold Telethon is broadcast LIVE on Monday, June 10, from 9.00am AEST on Nine and 9Now.

This annual telethon extravaganza has raised more than $42 million over the past decade, and to celebrate its 10th year everyone is invited to the biggest pyjama party on television.

TODAY Extra’s David Campbell will host the all-day broadcast, along with 10-year-old Ollie who returns as the courageous face of the Gold Telethon for 2019. Viewers fell in love with Ollie and his indomitable spirit last year, learning of his battle with a rare illness called VACTERL association, which resulted in a foot amputation at the age of five and over 30 major operations including open heart surgery.

Joining them throughout the day are Nine’s favourite personalities including TODAY’s Deb Knight , Georgie Gardner and Richard Wilkins , TODAY Extra’s Sonia Kruger , Weekend TODAY’s Jayne Azzopardi , Wide World of Sports’ James Bracey , as well as Peter Overton , Cameron Williams , Belinda Russell , Davina Smith and Dimity Clancy from Nine News .

The Voice superstar coaches Delta Goodrem , Boy George , Kelly Rowland and Guy Sebastian will hit the telethon stage, along with The Voice 2019 artists Prinnie Stevens , Jesse Teinake , Kristie Mercer , Chriddy Black , Tannah and Luke Zancanaro , and Kim Sheehy . Country music star Amber Lawrence will perform and chart-topping artist Stan Walker will sing his new single, live.

Also joining the fun are family favourites Jimmy Giggle and The Wiggles , LEGO Masters champions Henry and Cade who will tackle some exciting challenges, and illusionists The Blackties weaving their spellbinding magic.

A host of familiar Nine stars will support the appeal by taking viewers’ donations on the phone. They include The Block’s Scott Cam , Neale Whitaker , Darren Palmer and Hayden and Sara , Love Islands’ Sophie Monk and Tayla Damir , Doctor Doctor’s Tina Bursill , Chloe Bayliss and Belinda Bromilow , and the Fren family from Travel Guides.

Married at First Sight’s Michael will aim to raise $20,000 with a personal pledge that will see his wife, Martha , cutting off his luscious locks for the worthy cause. Joining them to show their support will be fellow MAFS participants Nic , Elizabeth , and Cam and Jules .

Netballers Kiera Austin and Jaime-Lee Price from the Giants will lend a hand, as well as stars from the NRL including Martin Taupau from the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.

Throughout the day there will be remarkable stories of inspiration and hope, including a brave 15-year-old boy affected by an extremely rare disorder called Dyrk1a Syndrome; a resilient six-year-old girl mastering her new myoelectric arm; and the courageous young boy battling a rare form of acute myeloid leukaemia who isn’t about to let life’s challenges get him down.

There will also be regular live crosses to TODAY’s Steve Jacobs and A Current Affair’s Sylvia Jeffreys at the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick.

Nine Chief Executive Officer, Hugh Marks , is urging all Aussies to donate and make a difference.

“Now in its tenth year, the Gold Telethon promises to be a day full of fun, entertainment and surprises. The staff at the Sydney Children’s Hospital work tirelessly to support sick kids and their families across New South Wales and Australia, and this will be a day for viewers to dig deep and show their support for such a worthwhile cause,” Mr Marks said.

“I am again humbled by the hard work of everyone involved, including those behind the scenes and the on-air talent. With the generosity of major partners and the community, we aim to raise more than six million dollars in this year’s Gold Telethon.”.

It’s a pity that they couldn’t have gotten even just one presenter from Nine News Southern NSW/ACT and NBN News to be part of the team, rather than all the local news-related presenters being from Nine Sydney.

I’m sure the Children’s Hospital at Randwick doesn’t discriminate and often helps out regional kids. With it being a statewide telethon, the 2.5 million or so who don’t see Peter Overton & Cameron Williams on a nightly basis deserve to feel included! :+1:

A few caps of the promo currently airing for the Gold Telethon - looks like a new logo this year so I wonder if the On-Air Presentation will be different too!

There’ll also be a special Gold Telethon Edition of Millionaire Hot Seat on Monday:

Is the Gold Telethon edition of Hot Seat for NSW only? Will other states see another episode?

If I remember correctly, there was an similar Gold Telethon edition of Millionaire Hot Seat a few years ago which was simply promoted as a Charity Special outside of NSW. Perhaps that could be happening again.

I remember Mike Rabbitt from NBN News was part of the Gold Telethon a few years ago.

Karl Stefanovic has just done a report.

First television appearance since December?

If you ask me, the question that needs to be asked here isn’t “Where does the money go?” but rather “Who dressed Richard Wilkins?” - even for it being a telethon with a pyjama party theme, this sloppy “bogan” look is like something out of the 1980s! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I believe Dickie has said he sleeps naked so the idea of pajamas is probably quite foreign to him anyway.

Lots of surprises this year- Karl Stefanovic, Richard Reid and the old The Verdict desk.

I did notice there was a dedicated stream on 9Now, so the Gold Telethon was available outside of NSW for anyone who wanted to watch it.

I miss the days when Telethons ran over 24 hours. The fewer people the talent thought was watching throughout the night, the more entertaining they became as they let their guards down.

2019 GOLD TELETHON RAISES OVER $6.1 MILLION

FOR SYDNEY CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

Yesterday’s tenth annual Gold Telethon has raised $6,156,915 for the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation in Randwick, with companies and viewers around New South Wales digging deeper than ever.

Nine Chief Executive Officer, Hugh Marks , was overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity.

“To raise this much money is truly an incredible result. Thank you to all those involved in putting together an amazing telethon, both in front of and behind the camera,” Mr Marks said. “Everyone here at Nine is humbled by the way New South Wales opened their hearts and their wallets to help the children and their families in our community who need it the most.”

Nicola Stokes , CEO of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation, added: “Thanks to this inspiring collective effort we have raised over $6.1 million for the latest equipment, ground-breaking medical research and vital services. The extraordinary care and priceless gifts these funds can provide, like a child learning to walk again after surgery or the peace of mind a parent feels after months of worry, are worth far more than their weight in gold.
