Nine names LEGO MASTERS Commercial Partners

Brick by brick, Nine names the major commercial partners for the first season of the brand-new family entertainment series, LEGO® MASTERS.

Among the advertisers building up their brands in the program hosted by LEGO® tragic Hamish Blake are Honda, Kmart and a2 Milk™.

“We are thrilled that our partners have come to play with this first season of LEGO® Masters,” said Liana Dubois, Nine’s Director of Powered. “These wonderful brands recognise the inter-generational appeal of content that engages youngsters through to the grey-haired young at heart and everyone in between.

“We all have a LEGO® memory, from building magic with friends and family to those little brick injuries in darkened hallways – LEGO® has touched us all.

“LEGO® inspires our inner child, and Powered Studio is unlocking that youthful creativity to produce bespoke solutions that capitalise on the power of the LEGO® brand.”

Honda is driving creativity in the series with judge and LEGO® certified professional Ryan “Brickman” McNaught and his team building a life-size LEGO® Honda Civic Type R.

The design, planning and implementation required 1300 hours of work on the LEGO® car, which will feature in a TV commercial and a digital content series created for Honda by Nine’s Powered Studios.

The content series will follow the building process from design to completion. The digital content series will be housed on Honda’s owned and operated platforms, including their social and YouTube channels.

Honda will also captivate the audience by bringing them the “Estimated Brick Counter”, a tool that estimates how many LEGO® bricks are required for a challenge, featuring in every episode and gob smacking viewers with the intricacy and scale of the brick challenges.

“Honda is a company that is all about creativity and innovation, so it’s great to support a family show that mirrors these ideals so well,” said Stephen Collins, Honda Australia Director. “Through LEGO® MASTERS we’ll see some of the dreams of the contestants, and also fans, come to life – we’re proud to be helping drive that.”

Kmart has also commissioned Powered Studios to create a custom commercial which builds on its long-term partnership with LEGO® and celebrates the deep family bond built over LEGO®.

Honda, Kmart and a2 Milk™ will also integrate into the power of the LEGO® brand via creative sponsorship billboards which have been specifically commissioned to be made of LEGO® by “Brickman” McNaught and his team.

LEGO® MASTERS, which is unlike anything ever seen on Australian TV, will premiere on Sunday, April 28, at 7.00pm on Nine. It will see eight pairs of passionate creators let loose on The Brick Pit where 2.5 million LEGO® bricks await, ready to build models and masterpieces that must be seen to be believed.

The Lego Honda Civic Type R will be making appearances across the country over the coming months.

Been watching it on Channel 4 - nifty idea (albeit the contestants tend to be revenge of the nerds types).

The show will premiere on Three in New Zealand next Wednesday (May 1) at 7.30pm. Unlike Nine, Three will show only one episode per week at this stage.

Kiwis are absolutely ‘pumped’…

There’s nothing creative about borrowing someone else’s idea.

Is anybody watching this? Am curious for your thoughts before it airs in WA

It’s actually good, I like it. A little slow at first but it’s amazing seeing all the builds! So much creativity and imagination from all teams.

The design and creativity is simply amazing.

Agreed that it started slow but the outcomes were fantastic!

The future challenges should be great too

The show is trending at no.1 on Twitter ahead of AFL.

I am watching this on 9now.
Looks pretty good! Back in my days, I used to own Lego Blocks as a child. At this stage, it looks colorful.

Also thought the pacing was slow tonight but think that’ll improve with future episodes being an hour & 10 rather than an hour & 40 like tonight’s premier was

Just starting it now on recording after the HR/MKR combo. Not too sure about Hamish as host just yet…but maybe its just me.

I though Hamish was an excellent host, constantly poking fun at the reality genre. The show was decent and enjoyable enough but suffered from what most Australian reality shows suffer from which was running for too long. Hopefully that improves tonight because it was otherwise decent.

It also doesn’t feel like a stripped show but nine have decided to just cram a once weekly format into multiple nights a week.

I thought Hamish was very cringey for most of the show. I know they were trying to make fun of the genre but didn’t need to be every step of the way. The whole going up to the wrong contestants part was just awkward to me.

Like everyone else has said, it was just too slow to begin with, looks fantastic, and the end products are amazing, but just needs a lot of editing.

Would have preferred it to be a once a week show, if Nine were feeling more confident following MAFS and their good start of the year, they could have done Lego one night, Ninja Warrior one night and 2-3 The Voice Auditions and ran them all for 10 weeks rather than cramming everything in to a three week period.

I wanted to see more of the building detail. There was a lot of shots from a distance and very little close up - that seemed to be left to the end and as a big reveal rather than showing how much work had gone into the build. As a result I found the episode tedious through the build section. last night should have finished with the first part of the challenge.

Thank you. I felt the exact same. Do the wrong contestant gag once, but he kept going. I love Hamish, but I kinda feel like he needs someone else to bounce off like he does with Andy. And constantly poking fun at the genre got tirr

Fun concept, but the episode was too painstakingly long as they always are with these formats.

Hamish’s style and the overall feel was very Great Australian Bake Off but at least Claire and Mel have each other to bounce off. Though, I did enjoy his cutaway interviews on how his hosting was going.
