Outspoken, award-winning chef Colin Fassnidge lifts the lid on local restaurants flirting with failure in the new series Kitchen Nightmares Australia , premiering 7.30pm Wednesday, 12 October on Channel 7 and 7plus.
Visiting a different struggling restaurant each week, Colin will uncover why these establishments are on the brink of collapse, before relaunching them in only five days.
On the journey to each restaurant’s relaunch, Colin uses his culinary expertise to discover their inherent problems and offer solutions to put them back on their feet. From offering ways for the restaurants to improve the food they serve, to insider advice on tips to refine the way they run their kitchens and their overall business strategy, Colin aims to send each owner on the way to a brighter future
From “fresh frozen” seafood and burgers served with peanut butter and bananas, to kitchens mired in filth and owners at war with their staff, Colin puts his senses in the firing line as he strips the restaurants and their menus back to what he knows will work for their markets.
Along the way he meets delusional owners, fights with belligerent chefs and brings his and years of experience running and owning restaurants to the fore works against the clock to relaunch their restaurants at the end of five days.
Each week, Colin provides emergency restaurant rescue with a unique combination of practical insight, compelling entertainment and a few expletives for good measure.
Nothing is sacred: struggling restaurants will receive tough love in a bid to turn around their flagging fortunes, and with only a few weeks to nail the transformation before Colin departs, the results will be extraordinary.
