That’s very much what’s happening. With Gold launching on DAB+ in Perth instead of also launching on 96.1 FM, expect 96fm to rebrand to KIIS. I’ve explained this a bit in detail, which can be seen in the Random Mocks thread.
The music currently on 96fm can’t stay the same forever. With Gold launching on DAB+ soon 96fm will eventually have to give way to Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and those other overplayed Top 40 artists you hear on KIIS stations over on the East Coast.
Local shifts would go, and new shifts heard on 96fm would be networked on delay from Sydney. And if ARN wants to go one step further, the local brekkie show on 96fm would also have to make way for K&J on a timeshift delay.
Any competitions that are announced (like winning tickets to a concert or even winning prize money) would not be applicable to the Perth listening area. In short, it would just be a full-time relay of KIIS 1065 Sydney with local ads. That’s it.
