Jesse Baird & Luke Davies Murder Investigation

I wondered the same thing when Sarah Harris mentioned that he was going to start a new job in a few short weeks.

Good that it’s the police commissioner providing updates. Considering the situation it’s the correct approach

BB I agree.

I just hope they can find them so friends, family and colleagues ans the wider gay community can say goodbye. I didn’t know them personally, maybe its because I’m gay and going to turn 40 soon but I am still struggling why this case has upset me so much.

I am so angry at this whole situation, I just hope justice will be served.

Sarah and Hamish did very well last night, couldn’t help but feel her pain.:frowning:

It was mentioned on 7News Adelaide last night that Mardi Gras organisers are considering a way to commemorate their deaths in an appropriate way.

At the long media briefing we heard some aspects of the timeline including for the first time that there was a triple 0 phone call made from Jesse’s phone at 9:54 , about 4 minutes after shots were heard; but it was brief and disconnected.

Nine now have two reporters in Bungonia

I couldn’t agree more with what you have said here.

I think it has upset the wider LGBTQIA+ community. I’ve felt sick about this since Friday when it was confirmed they were murdered. The whole thing is just so sad.

Hopefully they can be found and be laid to rest.

and I imagine with Sarah being a big True Crime podcast/show fan she would be thinking about what she can and cant say in regards to it and sensitivities of the families.

That should go without saying for any professional journalist

Yes, everyone is talking about it. Its definitely had an affect on the wider community, right around Australia.

This is making me angrier and angrier each day.

If neighbours heard gunshots why didn’t they call the police?

If Jesse’s phone got disconnected why didn’t they send a car over to check? I understand it would have been too late to save them but at least they’d have had their bodies and the murderer in custody a hell of a lot sooner.

I think the NSW police actually have a lot to answer to for on this one.

I’ve been in a situation like this, you hear a bang, you don’t really register what it is and just write it off as a random noise and carry on. Then later you find out what it is and it clicks that’s what you heard.

That’s fair. Maybe we need to be living in a world now where it’s better to be safe than sorry and report everything even if you are unsure.

Again, it wouldn’t have saved them unfortunately but I just feel like Jesse and Luke have been let down.

Police way too slow to act on this one.

I’m wondering where the 2 female roommates were for days?

This is really sad if it was a desperate attempt by Jesse to call authorities after being shot. :sob:

That’s probably the case. It’s easier in hindsight to say they should’ve done something but they prob didn’t think too much of it at the time. Looking back they have probably realised what it was.

I remember a while ago that it was reported that more than half the calls to Triple 0 in Australia are a misdial, prank or non-emergency call. They were trying to ask the public to take more care.

While they do their best to respond to those non emergency calls, their time is taken up with responding to emergencies.

Also, it was easier to identify where the caller was calling from when everyone used landlines. Harder to determine the exact location when using a mobile phone.

Yeah, you’re right. Guess I’m just trying to find answers in all of this tragedy.

I reckon knowing the person that allegedly did it he’s kept the phone. There’s been reports he broke into Jesse’s house on multiple occasions and used his phone to delete messages etc… I don’t know how if most phones are fingerprint or face ID unless cops have a secret code?

I don’t get why they’re giving out all this information like it’s usueles for the public to know? All it’s going to do is make it more difficult for a fair trail. But maybe that’s the point?

lots of people still have older phones that don’t have these.

There is an option for callers to 000 who are unable to speak to press 55 which will alert police to return the call. Unfortunately if there’s no response the call is disconnected as it may be likely to be unintended (I’ve personally managed to to pocket dial Triple 0 once).
