It seems all the SCA stations have been deleted off Tunein. I would say its a loss but I know better
I cant find any write up about it. Just know my amp is no longer capable of finding these stations as it uses the tunein directory

It is another way to force people to listen to SCA stations through its own LiSTNR app.
The drawback is that LiSTNR app can only be used in Australia, which means Aussie expats overseas miss out.
Don’t think they care about them.
If you have even a rudimentary grasp of Google Chrome’s developer tools, you can simply sniff out any stream and copy/paste the URL into your streaming app of choice. It’s a PITA if they do change URLs but it keeps you away from their walled garden (of Eden, snakes probable).
Radio Garden is a good app, though admittedly it’s biased towards non commercial stations.
Another brain dead decision by SCA that shouldn’t come as a surprise, the only media organisation I know that is actively trying to discourage an audience.
Quite a few radio companies have done the same thing to drive listeners to their own apps/platforms.
and its stupid. no one is going to have 50 radio apps, they will just go elsewhere. its pure pig headedness from the stations who forget they are no longer competing with Caralis, Pure Gold and HTE on these devices but the pop station from London or the hip hop station from Philadelphia.
people won’t download the app - they will just move to another station
I think its like different streaming services and TV Services (using their own apps), radio is just trying to emulate this. I am sure its an another way to “make money”. I wonder if the “Radio App” will die one day as each “radio station” will want to promote their own radio app.
RadioApp is good for the regionals and smaller networks that don’t have their own app so I think it still has plenty of life left in it.
I hope so! Yeah its good to have a consolidation. I know radio stations are normally fierce rivals but having one app for all in my view is smart. Otherwise radio will become too fragmented. Each app is a little different and adds extra effort, radio should be simple just flick a switch to change stations or in the case of an app a swipe to tune into a different station. Its a shame that the radio app doesn’t include community stations.
Ill stick with Tunein I think. Plenty of better options out there than the SCA stations. Infact I think listening to static at times is better.
Or maybe the streaming URLs have been changed and this just hasn’t been updated on Tunein?
Could be. The have “web” streams and “liw” streams (for Listnr). Maybe the “web” streams are now disabled and they’ve only left the Listnr ones active.
I agree but the stations introduced native adverts, every time you tune in, which ruined that concept. Radioapp used to be great when you could use it like a conventional radio and switch between stations. Once you had a native advert play every time you switched stations or had a network drop out, then it became rubbish.
BBC and Absolute Radio are moving to their own apps as well - which makes it frustrating with my Sonos speakers as I cant access the UK sonos services
Does a VPN help?
Appears not - Sonos link your user account to a Country, I can change the country but I then lose the Australian services
Agreed, annoying as I have to AirPlay BBC Radio 1 Dance to my Sonos. This is why I detest the idea of station centric apps as they usually only come in iOS and Android varieties and not for Sonos (although BBC Sounds is available on Sonos in the UK).
As a side note the BBC Sounds station Radio 1 Dance is available via Google Home speakers here but not Amazon Alexa speakers.
I’ve basically resorted to an old iPhone permanently sitting nicely in an aluminum stand next to my AirPlay speaker in the kitchen to simply use as a dedicated streaming device using the radio station apps (although I mainly use RadioApp I must admit).
I do this rather than stuff around with the various internet radio directories I’ve used over the years that are built into internet radios, home theatre receivers, Sonos, etc. Which all eventually cease support or aren’t regularly updated.
The only thing that frustrates me is that it disconnects from AirPlay when idle and I have to always manually select the AirPlay speaker again when pushing play on the iPhone. It’d be good if you could set a default AirPlay speaker for a device that it remembers. I have a few more old Airport Express’ around the house so can also easily run to multiple rooms too.
Found some new stations under the Sound States network on LISTNR.
My guess is these ambient instrumental stations are an extension of the Kinderling Kids stations.
