Reddit is bringing more sports content to its platform through deals with leagues, including the National Basketball Association and the National Football League, in a bid to attract more ad dollars.
The deals — which also cover the Major League Baseball, the PGA Tour and National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing — could help Reddit capitalize on the loyal audience and star power sports commands to boost its revenue, the social media platform said in a blog post on Monday.
Reddit users will be able to access video highlights from games and tournaments, behind-the-scenes videos, its popular “Ask Me Anything” format and other content posted by the leagues.

Comcast is already touting its broadcast deal with the NBA, even though the league has not rubber stamped it yet.
The NBA announced its new broadcast rights deal earlier this morning. The breakdown is as follows:
ESPN: 80 regular season games, all Christmas Day games, approx. 18 Playoff games in first two rounds, a Conference final series in 10/11 years, and the NBA Finals.
NBC: up to 100 regular season games, including opening night double-header and MLK Day, All-Star Weekend, 28 playoff games in the first two rounds, and a Conference final series in 6/11 years.
Amazon: 66 regular season games, including a Black Friday game. Quarters, semis, and final of the NBA Cup, all 6 Play-In Tournament games, approx 1/3 of first and second round playoff games, and a conference final series in 6/11 years.
Warner Bros. Discovery, who operates TNT Sports, had sought to activate their backend clause to match Amazon’s deal and retain the rights. This has been rejected by the NBA and seems destined to end up in court.
Interesting that there has been a significant increase in broadcast TV games (up to 75 instead of the current 15).
These American rights packages are done so well compared to our stupid rights deals.
Which broadcaster gets a Conference final series in the remaining year of the deal? Assuming NBC and Amazon splits the same Conference finals series.
6 of 11 for NBC and Amazon would make 10 of 11 for ESPN
Unlike NFL. Amazon will have their games available in Australia.
More information on Amazon’s NBA deal, which indicates that:
The international live game package rights extend worldwide, with the exception of Greater China, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands, with rights in Canada beginning in the 2026-27 NBA season.
Will this impact ESPN’s existing broadcast deal for Australia and New Zealand?
Yes it will. Especially around playoffs and in the years Amazon get a conference finals.
ESPN release also mentioned games on Disney Plus in some markets.
Interesting, I thought ESPN AUS renewed for a while, must of been up till then
The NBA App will be a universal access point – seamlessly directing fans to every national game on Disney, NBCU and Amazon platforms.
Similar to the CA Live or AFL apps integrating Kayo once you sign in to stream games.
With NBC back in the fold. One of all time great sport themes will return…

Peacock is front and center in the new deal, with approximately 50 exclusive NBA national regular-season and postseason games lined up, anchored by Peacock Monday Nights and doubleheaders late in the season. With the all-new Sunday Night Basketball “Game of the Week” franchise at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, NBC Sports is primed to continue its two-decade tradition of premium Sunday night sports. It will present a one-hour pregame show leading up to tip-off every Sunday night. Fans can also expect national coverage of Tuesday regional matchups at 8 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. PT on NBC and Peacock. NBC Sports will host the first games every NBA season with an opening night Tuesday doubleheader.
Also worth noting that NBC have the rights to Team USA games (men’s and women’s).
WNBA rights:
NBCUniversal’s new deal highlights its commitment to the WNBA in an exciting time for women’s basketball. Starting in 2026, NBC will be the home of 50+ national WNBA regular season games every season (across USA Network, Peacock, and NBC). The agreement will also see three WNBA Finals Series, multiple first-round playoff, and semi-final games across NBCU platforms over the deal’s 11 years.
Deal also, like Amazon’s international rights, includes UK rights with Sky Sports, presumably just for NBC games.
Interesting to see what happens to the Inside the NBA team.
Sunday Night Basketball will start at the conclusion of NFL regular season (NBC also airs Sunday Night Football).
EDIT
With NBA games streaming on Prime Video in Australia from the start of 2025-26 season, what does it mean for NBA League Pass?
Assuming it will stay without blackouts. Here is the wording from NBA release
“Prime Video will also become the NBA’s strategic partner and third-party global destination of NBA League Pass – the league’s live NBA game subscription service, with expanded distribution rights for NBA”
Mistake on my end, they both get 6/11.
