Australian Open renews longstanding broadcast partnership with Sky New Zealand
Australian Open is delighted to announce the renewal of its long-term media rights agreement with Sky New Zealand.
The renewal reflects the importance of New Zealand as one of the Australian Open’s strongest international markets. New Zealand is consistently the tournament’s second largest international market for visitation, with Kiwi fans continuing to demonstrate a strong connection to the event both on-site and through broadcast viewership.
Under the extended agreement, Sky will continue to deliver comprehensive coverage of the Australian Open across Sky Sport and Sky Sport Now, while from 2027 fans will also be able to enjoy free-to-air evening session coverage on Three and ThreeNow for the first time.
The new deal will provide New Zealand audiences with greater access to the Australian Open than ever before. Sky will offer an expanded content lineup for fans across both live and on demand viewing.
Customers on Sky’s digital products (new Sky Box, Sky Pod and Sky Go) will be able to access every main draw match live, while all Sky Sport customers will be able to access the 24-hour World Feed plus at least three dedicated AO channels, ensuring audiences can enjoy the action from Melbourne Park.
“New Zealand has been a valued market for the Australian Open for many years,” Tennis Australia Chief Commercial Officer Cedric Cornelis said.
“Sky has played an important role in bringing the Australian Open to Kiwi fans for more than two decades, and this agreement will help us continue to grow the tournament’s reach and connect even more fans with the excitement of the summer of tennis.”
“The Australian Open is one of the premier tennis events and has long been part of summer viewing for New Zealanders. We’re delighted to extend our partnership with Tennis Australia, securing the content we know is important to our audiences for the longer-term,” Sky Head of Content Partnerships Adam Crothers said.
“Our expanded reach also gives us more ways to bring the Australian Open to New Zealanders. Alongside comprehensive coverage for Sky customers, we’ll showcase selected matches and moments free-to-air on Three and ThreeNow, ensuring the tournament reaches an even broader audience.”
The agreement continues Sky’s 25-year partnership with Tennis Australia, with the extension also including the New Zealand broadcast rights to the Laver Cup and United Cup.

The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) issues charges against CANAL+ Polska! The Office suspects that the company may have misled customers regarding access to Champions League matches!
The issue concerns the Mistrzowska Piłka package, which ceased to be available on June 30, 2024. The problem is that some subscribers still had valid contracts.
According to UOKiK’s findings, consultants assured customers that the package would be available for the entire duration of the contract, and the programming offer would not change. Offer summaries also featured dates suggesting that access to the package would last longer. Only the detailed terms of the contracts indicated an earlier end date for the service.
As a result, fans lost the ability to watch the Champions League as part of the purchased package. CANAL+ continued to broadcast the matches, but in other, additionally paid packages.
The problems do not end there. UOKiK has also launched an investigation into the broadcasting of the Spanish LaLiga. Customers were reportedly assured that their chosen package would allow them to watch all matches, only to later discover that they did not have access to some of the games.
If the allegations regarding the “Mistrzowska Piłka” offer are substantiated, CANAL+ Polska could face a fine of up to 10% of its turnover.
UOKiK is examining whether consumers were provided with accurate information regarding the terms of the offer. At this stage, this does not constitute a determination of the company’s guilt.
