WBD has declared this weekend a “Super Weekend” of live sport. It’s the first time they’ve been able to do it in like… forever.
Compared that to Sky’s superior sportfolio where they can wheel out so many Big Weekends, it feels like every other weekend is one.
The moniker was declared on the basis of the following lineup:
- Giro d’Italia (final stages)
- Women’s FA Cup & UCL championship games
- Roland-Garros (2nd day of round 3, 1st day of round 4)
- MotoGP’s Italian GP
- WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series

BBC News understands Sir Keir did not receive a reply and TNT Sports has shown no sign of changing its policy for the game, which is being played in Budapest, Hungary.
On Thursday, Sir Keir joined forces with the Football Supporters’ Association, external and independent fans’ groups in another attempt to get TNT to reconsider its position.
BBC Sport understands Uefa is disappointed, and argued the final should remain free to air.

Not a surprise when UEFA doesn’t make the final FTA by default instead of making it optional.
Don’t understand where the backlash comes from. TNT has placed the final on the most basic HBO Max sub, meaning it’s only £4.99.
They could have placed it behind their normal paywall. That’s an absolute bargain.
Unless you’re telling me the PM couldn’t even spare five bucks.
The argument isn’t about the amount, but rather the principle of having to pay at all for a match which has always been shown on FTA.

Exactly.
Imagine if the AFL or NRL Grand Finals were behind a paywall. Or the State of Origin. Would people be saying but it’s only $10 a month? No way. They’d be outraged.

At the end of another one of these YouTube streams is a Sunset+Vine production ender, so it seems they had them producing them for them. With graphics, highlights and a voice-only host, it’s better than Fox used to do when they simulcast Seven games on double-header days!
At least they had temporary workarounds in the interim. No runs were scored during the outage period.

Sky Sport 1 is supposed to carry live coverage of the IPL Final. Instead this.
No, the feed is up and running. There’s no rain delay or technical problems.
Had the game started at that point?
It was the lull between the closing ceremony and the match broadcast beginning with an opening sequence.
The feed kept going in other networks so it’s strange that Sky wanted to opt out.
Sky don’t seem to take a lot of wrap around stuff in some of their overseas broadcasts. Not sure if it’s rights related or what.

An English broadcaster rooting for an English sweep? Yeah, that’s… the storyline they wanted to run away with.
No difference to M6 or Canal+ rooting for PSG.

Yeah that’s just as bad. The move towards partisanship in sports broadcasts has been a poor one and does a disservice to viewers. Not every English viewer wanted Arsenal to win.
They shouldn’t be “rooting” for anything.

It’s being going on for years, just that now it’s become more pronounced. Even look at how the big ticket games are scheduled - they may not even be the two best or in form teams at the time of broadcast. And people still go on like they’ve found the cure for cancer and solved the war in the Middle East.
That’s true. Tottenham supporters, Man U supporters, Man City suppoters, Chelsea supporters, Aston Villa supporters, Crystal Palace supporters…I could go on. I bet none of them wanted Arsenal to win.
