I am sure given it is ”reality” tv Joey would be given a rough script as part of his contract.
The cynic in me also thinks a “bonus” payment if x, y and z are achieved for their time in the “so called jungle” may also be in the contract.

No different to MAFS. Here is another thousand bucks if you throw wine at such and such.
I’m not joking. It’s how it all works behind the scenes.
Essex is one of the biggest fakes you will ever meet.
Of course its fake. You don’t think they plan these things before the season starts?
It’s just a shame they feel they need to do it. There is so much better content being aired, they could show more of that (the podcast interviews, the food ‘fun’ challenges). Sticking with that would be better.
Pretty unsubstantiated claims there, for someone you likely don’t know personally.
Agree. 90% of the time the best parts of reality shows are the conversations. Chrissie Swan and Fiona O’Loughlan spring to mind. Reggie back in the day on BB. Personally, I’d rather listen to Poh talk about her life than watching a scripted dancing doona.
Yep. And Emily talking about winning Olympic gold at 16 and then going back to school. All very interesting to hear.
I took the Joey and Maria thing as them playing it up to the camp mates who wanted something to happen. Like they played it up to get a reaction out of a few onlookers. I think that was the point.
Very fascinating conversation between Dylan and Derek last night. I really enjoyed it.
There will be elimination every night from Sunday to Thursday next week.
Beau Ryan was the one to quit the show tonight. He did struggle in the show, and missed his wife and children.
It’s a shame he didn’t miss his wife back in the days when he was having an affair.
Highly inappropriate.
Seems a bit curious given the amount of time he’d be away from home and family for the Amazing Race
But as he said during interview with Chris & Julia, bit different to be able to call them morning and night while he’s away to no contact at all for however long.
I don’t particularly care whether he stayed or not, don’t think he added a great deal to the series and IMO it probably hasn’t done him any favours in terms of likability.
I did think however when he broke the news that it must be pretty comfortable knowing he’s still got his network contract with 10 for Amazing Race & Studio 10 plus whatever else.
On Fitzy and Wippa, he mentioned that being on the show played with his head. He started freaking out about he was going to be perceived by the public after a few things he said and did. He said that he didn’t clash with Nathan Buckley but Nathan did take him aside a couple of times and told him he was acting like a dickhead.
He also wanted to clarify that he wasn’t being paid on the length of time he stayed in there. He wanted to put a stop to rumours he heard and said he was always going to be paid the same amount, no matter how long he lasted. He was also honest to say that he didn’t really read his contract so had no idea how long the show was still going to run. Apparently he left on the Monday and the show wrapped up on the Saturday of that week.
He also said that he thought that they wouldn’t really withhold food from contestants who were starving there. For that reason, he almost left earlier than he did.
You would think if on contract with the said network you would be on your ‘best behavior ’.
Hmmmm… Perhaps network bosses orchestrated this who knows. Drumming up publicity for the series. And it’s star.
I don’t see how it was planned. Beau said today that he quit at about midnight and there were no producers around to even let him out of camp. Security tried to stop him leaving. So the exit interview couldn’t be done. Not the ideal for the show.
Was this the same night he found out how much Nathan was getting paid?
Sounds to me like it was a genuine “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here” moment. The family reasons were just the most palatable reason he could come up with to save face.
It’s like when a politician or CEO resigns and say it’s because they want to spend time with family. Then a week later accept a job as a banking CEO. Clearly the family reason was fake.
