Ideas, Issues, Suggestions

Well I’d say they just guessed my interests and were wrong because like I said I wouldn’t be looking up naked women and ads are device specific. Anyway, the porn ads were a thing a few years back. It’s no longer the issue here. Aside from that I have an adblocker. Also I mentioned further up that I have tried another browser so it’s not just safari.

You’ve probably got the same issue I have previously mentioned - the ads causing the thread to jolt up and down towards them when you scroll near them.

This is an issue that is ongoing and unfortunately its not something that we can easily fix without changes in the forum software

We dont control the content of the ads

I kinda feel like you guys aren’t listening…

This was years ago.

Malicious code ended up on this website, somehow.

It caused users coming from Google to be served porn ads.

This is different to ads ON media spy.

I asked if there was anything like that still happening to anyone.

My main concern is that site software isn’t functioning correctly because it is making users pages skip 20 posts when scrolling.

Edit: bacco007 answered the page scrolling/skipping part. It’s an issue with the software, or caused by the insertion of ads into the forum software.

Try viewing the site in the official Discourse Application. Discourse is the name of the software behind Media Spy.

No - it was a series of malicious ads that were served by Google AdSense

I wish it were that simple, it’s weirdly inconsistent - some users get it it, some dont - I suspect that the browser (not only which one, but also the version) is part of why its such an issue

You’re saying somehow GoogleAdsense was compromised? Do you have any more details? I’d love to look into this some more.

The rogue ads were coded to do the redirect, Adsense wasnt compromised but was rather used as the vehicle.

I’d be interested to know how this was done. How the ads could even do that given the data you can enter into an ad and how they managed to get past Google in the first place. I wasn’t even clicking on an Adsense ad, just the search results in Google and it only ever happened with MediaSpy. Do you know the name of this particular malicious code so I can have a look at its inner workings?

I googled the name of a type of rug a few weeks ago which is never heard of before and now I’m being bombarded by a gazillion ads for rugs and carpets.

Well at least that’s supposed to happen

Oh that type of rug?

Are you getting ads for baldness creams too?

 Not that type of rug and before you ask, it wasn’t a merkin either. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thanks for the memory jog!!

The new update to the emoji reactions is weird…
When you accidentally click on the smiley to pick a reaction, you cannot close the dialog anymore. So you need to reload the page.

Is there an issue with posting stuff from IP Australia?

Your posting stuff that has already been posted in the Binge thread.

My apologies I’ve only seen the Foxtel thread.

It looks like this site’s content expiry headers are missing.

Using the Unread view I read a thread’s recent posts, then when I click Back to return to Unread it’s showing the same as earlier/previous data (when it should hide the threads which I’ve recently read but have no new posts).

Unread should probably be set to expire after just a couple of seconds.
Oh and is this really currently running on a beta version of Discourse?
