It does make me wonder how long the support will exist.
I did actually consider a Hubble glass a while ago for the bedroom but didn’t. Though if they start to clear them out maybe I’ll snap up a cheap one haha

I assume the Habbl class has Hdmi input so it would work with a Chromecast Google TV or a firestick once the support lapses.
Why would anyone honestly want this now? It will most likely only be good for maybe 2-3 years then the OS will be completely useless.
I understand their desire for their own hardware, but given their past history of developing and then discontinuing support for other products, they should focus on developing apps. By creating apps for all devices, they can still learn about their customers’ viewing habits and tailor the commercials to them.
The Hubbl box/puck wasn’t too bad a concept, it had its place especially for someone looking for a more traditional pay TV experience and integration of streaming with FTA.
It was always way too expensive though for what it was, I was able to pick one the box up for half price from JB (around $50) and even then I’d argue that’s a bit much. Feel for anyone who got the Glass though, that’s a lot of money lost on a TV that probably won’t be smart for much longer.
There was all that promotion and hype last year, yet it turns out nobody’s Hubblin’ after all.
The problem is the customer for that is a Foxtel customer wanting to pay less and they weren’t going to target them. In the end the marketing they did do ended up not expressing that at all to people that mostly skipped over that experience, mostly just annoying them.
Hopefully they add a proper guide to the Kayo and Binge apps like the DAZN app has (and hopefully with better metadata than what Hubbl has) to mimic that traditional pay TV experience a bit more.
Hubbl could’ve added more features like, maybe FM and DAB radio? Add local and internet radio? Spotify and similar services?
Hopefully someone will hack this and make it more useful.
I actually have a few in the house I picked up whilst on special. All 55 inch ones. I think one was $800 and 2 were $600 each. As we were already on the hubbl ecosystem it made sense for us.
as they have hdmi and antenna inputs if they go on clearance I’d certainly recommend them. I’d only hope that if they officially depreciate them (rather than just let them die) they release a final firmware update that at a minimum removes the interface of all the hubbl stuff and allows you to set a default input, or optimally switches it to google tv
i was talking primarily at release. it seems they thought the foxtel name would take them through
Same when I go home for Christmas I guess I’ll be putting it in the bin . Most likely the recycle bin for tech.
Should have launched a Hubble app which bundled the services together. Would have been far cheaper to implement than hardware.
We use our Hubbl all the time and it was a great one for my parents. We spend most of our time watching the channels rather than the streaming so it’s been great having all the channels in the guide and easy to see and cheaper than the Foxtel. While I have the Amazon devices etc… it’s more steps to simply start and watch a live channel on Kayo or Binge etc…
However our other problem is the fact that despite numerous emails, we still haven’t been able to get a replacement remote control after several months. I filled out the support form and had a reply within minutes asking me to confirm my email address which I did and since then, nothing and I don’t want to pay full price for another box just for the remote.
I don’t think anyone really anticipated things would play out the way things did. It would be interesting to know how long talks had been going on with DAZN prior to this. I could be wrong but from memory Foxtel thought the talks would take longer then anticipated.
Yes, we got the Hubbl purely to get a guide for the BINGE live channels (coming over as an ex Foxtel customer).
I use Amazon Firestick but will the Hubbl still work but not get any updates until Foxtel ends it?
It depends if the individual apps get depreciated by app provider ie Netflix.
Well there’s talk of a TV guide coming next year with the binge app, but won’t help for those wanting to watch FTA.
What ever happened to those data casting channels with the TV guide for the day/week with a PIP of the main channel. I think at least all the commercials had one back in the day.
They got replaced when the stations were finally allowed to offer proper multi channels and they were at a time when the stations only offered now and next for their TV guides.
