All the rooms were underwhelming for me, which makes me wonder if budget cuts have affected how many accessories the teams can buy. I also noticed that the was no air-conditioning unit, which seems to have been a standard install in all previous homes; and there was no extension.
The judging appears to be back at the warehouse in Sydney they used last year (?).
Wow. Tanya and Dave have to be the most nasty, ruthless and horrible contestants the show has ever had. They are down right bullies. They had confrontation with every couple except for Kayne and Aimee tonight.
Yeah he tried to play up victim at the end there. Is he kidding? They arenât very smart. Putting everyone off like this will only make them want to do a poor job on there house.
Anyone found the point of Abbey Way yet? Sheâs fine but just seems surplus to requirements.
The twist of the teams scoring each other seemed unnecessary but if they do it would be better to have them score before the judges so they donât really know how itâll affect the leaderboard.
On the whole this cast are quite likeable but Tanya and Dave are above all else just stupid. Tamara tearing them a new one though was brilliant.
So frustrating that as always happens the show focuses on âzone warsâ at the expense of the general entertainment of the show, and more than anything at the expense of the flow of the house. Much preferred the early series when teams generally did connected spaces, and the most annoying thing is that it has really killed the spirit of Kimmi and Rhi - they were quite entertaining during the Penthouse round and the positive characters on set, and all that positivity has been surpressed by Dave and Tanya.
At the moment hope Dave and Tanya end up in the tent every single week.
So they can afford to give a show and a half to the judging but not insert a minute here and there to talk through the designs. I donât even remember seeing any concepts being shown on Tuesday night - it was all about that bloody framed degree.
It was odd, as he obviously didnât live in that house as there was no furniture, yet he had two framed UWS degrees on the wall. I suspect the whole scenario was a setup by the producers.
It seemed that way because they made a big deal about how he still lived in his parentsâ house. But if he did live there part time, wouldnât they move out any belongings before the demolition was due to start? The previous house they renovated was very sparsely furnished too, so I assumed they had moved any furniture they wanted to keep, out of there earlier.
That could be the case, otherwise the contestants may throw out furniture the home owner wanted to keep. Also any renovation may not look as good if they are using existing items in the house so perhaps they assume itâs better to make it look like the original furniture never existed.
Itâs like the other night when they were discussing solar panels for the roof. Irrelevant to the room renos. Or the way they have to put a skylight in every house now because they have a skylight sponsor. Or kitchen and laundry cabinets are all done by the same company.
According to the real estate listings he bought it in September 2017 and it was rented out from late 2018. Iâd guess that the tenants moved when he found out his application for House Rules was successful.
Turns out this is Laithâs house. But George set the rules for the other five teams. https://www.realestate.com.au/property/14-southee-cct-oakhurst-nsw-2761
I just think the saga of Laithâs law degrees is just storm in a teacup. I would rather want to see Carolyn providing advice to the teams instead.
We get no video diary footage now of the teams back at their hotel and virtually nothing of the home owners on their week away. Seems to be very little shopping and in car footage compared to previous years too - all sponsor related I guess.
As for Laithâs house - really do like the open plan area but donât think any of the rooms are that great, certainly not as good as the promos suggest.
