House Rules

Was a team eliminated last night?

They do all the backyards, then eliminate another team.

Thanks.

Really? That’s a relief-I can stop feeling sorry for poor Andy.

The Lisa edit means we all have a lot of sympathy for Andy. They’ve clearly decided as they couldn’t make Pete and Courtney the villians they wanted too this year they’d make Lisa the clown instead.

With today’s announcement that Australia’s Got Talent returns to Seven on Sunday July 28, we can assume House Rules will finish the week before?

The judges were pretty generous towards Lisa and Andy’s effort, with the couple’s fix up room given a pass and Jamie and LLB awarding 8 points each for the backyard reno. But Lisa and Andy still finished last for the round.
And why did Seven show clips of Gold Coast scenery when Shayn and Carly’s house is located on Sunshine Coast?

Seven have announced the House Rules Grand Final for Tuesday 23 July, which means it will go head-to-head with the MasterChef final.

Crazy decision by Seven. It means both will lose out to Ninja Warrior.

In the grand final which is shown over two nights, the remaining teams would have to create a loft in just seven days. Not sure if each team had to renovate every room in its allocated loft, or if the loft would be divided into zones again.

So what’s the next stage of the competition? They do up the judges houses? :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

They make a quilt using LLB’s discarded suits.

Think of the opportunities for revenge!

Glad they’re not dragging it out too much further - guess they’ll cut from 4 to 2 on Sunday then and then finish it over two nights.

Interesting that three of the four remaining teams had each topped an exterior renovation round and also come last at another round.
It would be a tight finish to the exterior renovation stage. Pete and Courtney finished with 93 points but could still miss out on a grand final spot if the other three teams got a high score from the judges. I wonder if Pete and Courtney would score strategically for the reno of their front and back yards.

It is quite close to call - Shayne and Carly are furthest away at 33 points behind Shayne and Carly. You’d assume they’ll pass the fix up room but lose points on the main reno as a result, which probably puts them where they’d have been anyway.

At the moment assuming they don’t screw things up I’d favour the boys and Lisa and Andy to top the scoreboard, but think it’ll be close. Wonder what they’d do in the event of a tie - guess bringing the home renovation stage into it would make most sense.

I would like the brothers to win. To think they’ve worked their guts out (even to exhaustion) and all the couples have had their houses done up and Tim and his wife got theirs but what has Matt got out of it?

Based on consistency across the series would like the boys to win, though pretty much happy with any of them winning. None are so far above or below the others that it would be undeserved.

Actually thinking about it how often does the winner of the main house stage win the overall thing?

As for this week - clear they deliberately avoid showing you too much in the Tuesday ep of what they’ve done so it can be revealed to viewers on Sunday, but looks like the guys have had a good week. Like others Shane and Carly probably come unstuck a bit by having the Fix Up room, but looks like they did better than others. We’ve not really seen what Lisa and Andy have done at the front but think they may get similar criticism to the lads last week for not leaving room for cars in the carport, even though they’ve been specifically told to change it to an entertaining area.

Do wish though they’d make the budgets clearer - even before the £5k win Lisa and Andy seemingly had the budget for a hot tub, something not even considered in the other houses.

Based on the promo at the end of Tuesday’s episode, I think one team would get the perfect 40/40 (10 from Pete and Courtney, and 10 from each of the three judges) and join the Melbourne couple in the grand final.

TONIGHT, ON HOUSE RULES :

It was an emotional homecoming for the spectacular garden reveal at Pete & Courtney’s. Tim & Mat received a perfect score from all three judges and the homeowners, securing them a place in the Grand Final alongside fellow Melbourne team Pete & Courtney and South Australia’s Lisa & Andy.
Queensland’s Shayn & Carly were eliminated from the competition after receiving three out of 10 from homeowners Pete & Courtney for their half of the deck and front courtyard. Shocked at their score, at Homebase Carly said: “I was expecting maybe at least a five. Three is a hard blow, I don’t think we did that bad.” Shayn put the move down to a strategic power play, but Pete defended their score telling host Johanna Griggs: “Three is tough and we know that, and we’ve given it and we’ve got to live with that.” Shayn & Carly fared better with the judges scoring a seven from both Wendy and LLB and a five from Jamie.

After the overall scores for the garden round were tallied, Tim & Mat topped the leaderboard with 104 and Shayn & Carly bottomed out with Carly saying: “I’m disappointed because we gave our all. We tried out hardest, we were so close to the grand final.” On their elimination, Shayn said: “We’ve had one hell of a ride to be honest.” Carly, through tears said: “I actually don’t think words can express just how we feel. We will forever be grateful.”

After the interior renovation Pete & Courtney’s home was valued at $850,000. It’s now valued at $940,000 with teams adding $90,000 during the garden renovation phase.

Monday night on House Rules:

For the first time ever three teams will battle it out in the House Rules 2019 Grand Final challenge. Teams must create a luxury loft in just 7 days, and when the judges scores are in one team will be crowned the House Rules 2019 champions and walk away with $250,000 plus a fully renovated home and garden.

I also think a 3 for Shayn and Carly was a bit harsh. Pete and Courtney should have given it a 6.

Still wouldn’t have mattered they were overall 6 points behind. I have a feeling the producers prob influenced votes as they saw Shayne copy the brothers. But they had no idea what P&C wanted by getting them a giant chess board and a karaoke machine.

I would have given Shayn & Carly a 5 and Lisa & Andy an 8. Thought those scores from P&C were too harsh.
