Fastest Finger First only determines who gets the $1,000 prize which they can turn into an extra lifeline. The players are sat in the order they play the main game, the results of FFF don’t change it.
The first question goes to the first person from the left of the screen. Then move along from left to right when they pass or fail
and therin is the fallacy of FFF, aside from the second chance it has no relevance to the game at all
It’s really just there to fill in the 1 hour format.
But I also like scoring myself out of the 15 Fastest Finger First questions and comparing my score to the contestants… I’ve never gotten more than 12 right, worst score was 4.
If Nine revive the original Millionaire, could it work at 8.40 with a reality hit before it?
Just like the good old days, Monday nights at 8:30pm.
In this day and age I don’t think it would work, given we’re all now used to watching game shows in the early afternoon as opposed to mid-evening. It’s one reason (among others) why Nine’s Weakest Link revival didn’t do so well.
Nine did trial a weeknight edition of the original Millionaire for one or two weeks in 2004 but it didn’t do too well; this makes me wonder if 1) the Monday night edition was rested for that week and/or 2) did the contestant from the earlier Monday show roll over into that same evening’s show?
If the Australian version of Tipping Point goes to 5 o’clock, then what will happen to Millionaire?
That’s another good question. Inevitably, if Tipping Point Australia becomes permanent after the run of pilot episodes, then Hot Seat would have to cop the axe, like Deal or No Deal and Million Dollar Minute did when Seven launched The Chase Australia in 2015.
If Tipping Point Australia airs at 5pm, then Hot Seat will get the axe.
Hypothetically, could two game should work at 5pm, so we don’t get repeats throughout the year (barring maybe in December and early January)? Tipping Point to air Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Hot Seat being reduced to Thursdays and Fridays?
Even if there’s a rare big win for Hot Seat, it will get people tuning into Nine at the end of the week, where there’s usually a turn off.
something similar happened when Nine revived the original Millionaire in 2007, which went live (in NSW and Victoria at least) and introduced a $5 MILLION top prize. It aired at 7:00pm on Monday nights, with Temptation taking the same timeslot for the rest of the week.
So yes, something like that could work.
Also, in 2001, Seven aired The Weakest Link twice a week, initially on Monday and Friday nights, though the second episode for the week would move to Thursday nights due to AFL coverage in the southern states.
Nine already revived Millionaire as a series of primetime celebrity specials though just as ITV and ABC (US) chose to do with the Clarkson and Kimmel eras and it failed. Tipping Point Australia and Jeopardy Australia are clearly attempts to bring somethng new and different to Nine’s lineup albeit in primetime.
Nine could probably test Hot Seat in a primetime slot as part of a broader game show block similiar to ABC (US) but it would need to be paired with a few other revivals to make it work such as Sale/Temptation, Deal or No Deal, The Price is Right or maybe even something like Blankety Blanks.
Deal or No Deal/Million Dollar Minute combo didn’t work
Did someone say Tipping Point Australia might in September? I don’t remember.
I haven’t heard anything official just yet.
If Nine puts the Australian version of Tipping Point, I think they would air the specials on Saturdays after the AFL Grand Final is done.
They won’t waste a brand new show on a Saturday night
Especially during the footy seasons.
I can also remember when Seven debuted “Deal or No Deal” in 2003 they did so on a Sunday night, putting it directly head to head with 60 Minutes and Australian Idol.
The result? It copped the axe after just over three months on air but was later reformatted to a half-hour show offering a top prize of $200K, while also giving its flagship 6:00pm news a much needed ratings boost on the East Coast.
