How should the Home and Away diner look this time how about the old 90’s Style Bayside one or even the late 2000’S Style with a drop-in Centre and Computer Lab or something else?
Yeah that’s the same diner that Sid was in that’s how long they have had it .
Juliet Godwin (Bree Cameron) has announced her engagement to boyfriend Sam Master. Last night’s episode was her final appearance on the soap.
The Sunday Telegraph’s High Steaks column today features an interview with EP Julie McGauran, on the set of Summer Bay diner (paywall).
High Steaks: How Home and Away became TV’s last drama standing
“Australians have such an amazing work ethic, and I think that’s what Home and Away is known for,” she says.
“So, anyone who has gone overseas or on to other shows, they understand it’s collaborative work.
“It takes a village, and that’s the truth of Home and Away. Those people have taken those skills that they’ve learnt here and taken them elsewhere, and I think that’s what makes them really great.”
As for those who dismiss Home and Away as simply a soap, McGauran doesn’t care.
“Our job is to ensure we keep on moving with society,” she says.
“The world can be crazy sometimes, more so now than ever.”
Not only have the characters become real, they’ve also become family. She met husband Cameron Welsh on the set and they have two children. He was an actor at the time, but has also worked as a director and producer. McGauran is still good friends with many former castmates, including Kate Ritchie.
That’s quite laughable considering how slow they are at portraying changes in society.

Home and Away is back for a history-making year
Who will make it home to the Bay and first look at Brax and Ricky’s return
In one of Home and Away’s most dramatic cliffhangers in the show’s 38-year history, multiple lives hang in the balance over the summer break after the catastrophic derailment of a party train en route to a music festival in Broken Hill.
Among the passengers caught in the chaos are Justin (James Stewart), Mackenzie (Emily Weir), Remi (Adam Rowland), Abigail (Hailey Pinto), Dana (Ally Harris), Sonny (Ryan Bown), Lacey (Sophea Pennington), Jo (Maddison Brown) and Eddie (Stephen Madsen). Who will make it home to the Bay?
When Home and Away returns at 7.00pm on Monday, 19 January 2026 on Seven and 7plus, rescue operations are in full swing to save those trapped in the wreckage. With the structure of the train threatening to collapse, every second is critical. David (Jeremy Lindsay Taylor), Cash (Nicholas Cartwright), Levi (Tristan Gorey) and Tane (Ethan Browne) are all at the crash site, navigating the chaos and carnage in a frantic bid to save lives – with their own loved ones still trapped on board the derailed train.
Realising time is running out, Tane takes matters into his own hands, defying police orders to enter the tunnel and rush to the aid of those still trapped. Will his heroic actions come at a tragic cost?
Plus, take a first-look at the highly anticipated return of fan favourites Brax (Stephen Peacocke) and Ricky (Bonnie Sveen), who are back for Home and Away’s upcoming Western Australia event, made in partnership with Tourism Western Australia.
Get ready for one of the biggest years in Summer Bay history.

“Home and Away’s enduring popularity is driven by powerful storylines that reflect Australian culture and tackle social issues that resonate with households across the country, and it’s where brands are showing up in 2026,” she said.
Home and Away returns at 7.00pm on Monday, 19 January 2026 on Seven and 7plus.
Not amazing figures for a finale. The promo gave away the whole cliffhanger, which wasn;t thrilling to say the least. The show put some of the least liked characters together to put in the finale….
So no problem if they all die then. ![]()
I think Emily Weir is going on 7 years on the show next year and Ethan 6 .
Nice to see people not leaving after 3 years.
Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick spoke to their boss, Amanda “Mad Mando” Lee (head of Hit Network Metro Content/Fox FM content director), live on air this morning. Amanda confessed to be a Home and Away superfan, and watches every episode with her partner and their dog. The co-hosts even played a recorded message from Ada Nicodemou and Fifi Box herself (she played Emmanuelle for two episodes on the soap in 2010).
EDIT: the chat with Amanda starts at 2:28 mark.
