Home and Away

This is a very strange video to make, she is upset about the segregation that she will feel as she won’t be part of society, well that is her choice. If she has a valid medical exemption then she can do the same things as a vaccinated person.

Em Rusciano probably saying what the majority of us are thinking.

Aren’t we all still segregated? Lol at least until Monday.

On a serious note she very clearly needs help. I hope she gets that soon.

I agree that it’s probably not the wisest move to discuss this in public, but maybe she’s had to say something because people have found out she’s not vaccinated and she felt the need to get in first before it became public knowledge? You would presume (hope) that she’s explained her reasons to H&A producers and it’s up to them how they deal with it. Perhaps her reasons are valid and they’re fine with it, or perhaps they’ve given her an ultimatum. We don’t know, nor do we need to know. All I know is that Sam has been open about her mental health battles in the past and clearly in this clip she’s not in a good place.

10 News First reporter Antoinette Lattouf has chimed in.

Sam has now deleted her Instagram page.

I’ve been thinking I wonder if something has already happened. Maybe she was told by Seven to get vaccinated or get out and this is her trying to gain support? I mean obviously it’s heavily backfired but you never know.

I don’t think it’s deleted, she’s probably just taken it down until things cool down a little.

Her post had over 5500 comments last time I checked, of all the ones I scrolled through (a fair few) they were all in support of her speaking out. I also just checked her Facebook page which is still up, and people have commented on the last post from a month ago with messages of support too.

So there is definitely a section of the community who resonate with her clear vaccine hesitancy.

Twitter is almost always an angry outlet you’re bound to find people piling on with criticisms & critiques - especially of people with opposing views. Just look at what happened to Jess Rowe, right or wrong of her to interview Pauline, Twitter went into overdrive with everyone offering their opinion about why it was wrong.

Social media becomes a dangerous place when it comes to (in many cases warranted) scrutiny of people with a public profile.

Sam also deleted a lot of the comments that were disagreeing with her stance or questioning what she had to say.

Twitter uses are claiming she’s been deleting the negative posts from Instagram and she commented confirming it cause “they’re causing fights and disharmony”.

So it’s not all black and white.

She has monumentally fucked this one up.

I do hope that she is alright though.

On the topic of the actual show though, I saw this on Facebook, this is what Sam had put on her Instagram story yesterday (you can’t see her here as she’s sitting on the ground behind the woman with the hat).

Considering the way they’re all dressed in dark clothes, do we think there could be a funeral?

Yep- Tane, Alf or Martha from the gas

Impossible. It could be one of them but not from the gas from this weeks episodes.

The show is filmed 5 months in advance.

Even Hans the German is ripping into Sam.

Classic.

Seems like a ready-made plot for her leaving the show.

Is it mandatory to be vaccinated to be filming on Home and Away?

This.

She’s stuffed up big time with this one but I do hope she’s ok and that the reaction doesn’t tip her over the edge.

I’ve had some conversations with a person I work with who is an anti-vaxxer. While I’ll always argue against the ones who use the arguments which have been disproved thousands of times this one at work I understand her point of view. She’s had ongoing side effects and will likely have them for life from a previous mandatory school vax. She knows that Im very pro vax and that we will never agree with each other but I fully understand her reasons and hesitancy and I’ve said that’s what I count as one of those who legitimately can’t get vaxxed and my reasoning for getting vaxxed was to protect people like her. If mandatory vaccinations come in which is likely it’ll be interesting to see if there is an exemption here.

Back to Sam though, I really worry for her mentally here. This is obviously something she’s struggled with for a while and in a way this was a cry for help and for understanding. While I don’t agree I think the backlash has been too harsh and severe and she needs people to support her now, not support her decisions but to help her through - especially if employment is now likely to be an issue for her too.

Well said, and thank you for sharing your story about your co-worker which gives us a different perspective rather than ‘they haven’t done enough testing’ yada yada. I hope Sam is getting the help she needs because clearly she’s in a very dark place.
