Holiday Home Makeover With Rachel & Ryan

The Block 2022’s husband-and-wife duo Rachel and Ryan take on the challenge of transforming a tired property into their dream holiday home. This week they dive into their first major challenge, demolishing the garage to create the master suite.

So many block style spin-off series that never really seem to go anywhere or gain much traction. I guess they all seem pretty generic and forgettable after a while.

Given the market for lifestyle renovating content like the acquired series that are repeated ad nauseam on 9Life, I find it interesting Nine aren’t actively trying to do more in this space, overseas sales etc.

Probably says that people only wany UK and US shows, rather than the Aussie shows?

Episode 2: Saturday 17 May

As Rachel and Ryan continue to renovate a tired old house on the stunning South Coast of New South Wales, this week their focus shifts to a personal favourite - bathrooms. Ryan was formerly a plumber, and together they have created countless bathrooms for their business, The R&R Design Co.

They’re planning three luxury bathrooms all at once and Rachel has made an executive decision - to theme them in different colours - a green bathroom, a blue bathroom and a pink one, which will in turn match future guest bedrooms. It’s all part of Rachel and Ryan’s grand plan to create unique designs in every part of their holiday home.

But just as they get started, Ryan shocks Rachel with a decision to delete one of her crucial design elements in the pink bathroom which leaves her reeling.

As Rachel contemplates her next move, Ryan has his own dramas with deliveries going wrong and heavy equipment failure. To cap it off, Rachel’s colour coding plan falls to pieces with a disastrous mismatch in the green bathroom. Can they still pull off the bathrooms of their dreams?

It will all come down to the room reveals as the couple unveil their work to a group of interior design influencers.

Episode 3

Saturday 24 May 7:30pm

Continuing the biggest renovation project of Rachel and Ryan’s lives, this week on Holiday Home Makeover they set their sights on creating three guest bedrooms, plus a dedicated work-from-home space.

How many episodes are there in this series? Assuming it’s short run. 6-8 eps?

Looking at the ratings for the first two epsiodes, its doing pretty average. Its been beaten by 10’s Love It Or List It Australia (just).

I wonder if Nine will continue it’s run, until Space Imvaders or whatever the next lifestyle show airs.
