Hit Network

Weird there isn’t a Bronte & Lakey happy hour for the regionals to take instead of a Sydney show piped in.

I’d say it’s also a resource thing. It would require not only extra production, but considering The Hot Hits comes from 2Day, it makes sense to simply join the network earlier and take the Sydney feed throughout the night, rather than jump around.

I’d say they’re trying to build a national presence for them. Helps get them booked for TV etc, further promoting the radio show.

SCA ANNOUNCES B105 CONTENT DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT

SCA today announced the appointment of Ed Kirkwood as Content Director for B105 in Brisbane.

Kirkwood returns to SCA with over a decade of experience as a strategist and content leader bringing with him a wealth of knowledge from some of Australia’s most prominent broadcast brands.

Most recently, Kirkwood was Content Lead at ARN for the KIIS Network’s national drive shows, overseeing Will & Woody, Zach and Dom, and The Pick Up. Prior to that, he spent four years as Executive Producer of Will & Woody, driving the show’s creative strategy, developing high-performing production teams, and delivering strong ratings and commercial results across the network.

Kirkwood’s career spans major roles at the ABC and triple j, producing flagship Breakfast, Drive, and Evenings programs, before moving into commercial radio at SCA, where he worked as Senior Producer across key shows on Fox FM and 2DayFM. His return to SCA brings a proven track record of content leadership, innovation, and audience growth to the national content team.

On his appointment, Ed Kirkwood said: “I’m incredibly excited to be rejoining SCA, with all that it has to offer in the way of professional excellence and a high performing culture. I especially feel privileged to be working alongside the B105 team, whose reputation for hard work and compelling content precedes itself. Stav, Abby & Matt are an absolute juggernaut and an essential part of Brisbane culture and its identity, and I can’t wait to contribute to the success of the show in any way I can.”

Amanda Lee, Head of Hit Metro Content, said: “We’re excited to welcome Ed back to SCA. His proven record in growing shows, developing high performing teams and creating content that genuinely connects with audiences makes him a valuable addition to the B105 team. Ed also brings deep experience in integrating brands seamlessly into content and has a strong focus on podcast strategy and growth, a combination that will strengthen our offering across multiple platforms.”

Ed Kirkwood will officially commence as B105’s Content Director on Monday 13th October.

Fifi, Fev and Nick are broadcasting live from Melbourne Royal Show next Thursday (September 25). All this week the show is giving away family passes to the OB. The winners will also get to enjoy the rides before the gates open to the public at 9am.

Embattled B105 breakfast team accused of copying rival

An embattled breakfast radio crew are under fire after rolling out a ‘new’ stunt that listeners say looks suspiciously stolen from their rivals.

Brisbane radio station B105 has been accused of stealing ideas from its rivals after launching a competition almost identical to one that aired on KIIS97.3 earlier this year.

… B105 this week rolled out “Stav’s Hide and Seek,” sending host Stav Davidson to a “secret location” while listeners were invited to call in and guess his whereabouts using clues dropped on air.

But it didn’t take long for listeners to notice the striking similarities to KIIS97.3’s “Biggest Game of Hide and Seek,” a blockbuster competition that ran in February.

Well, if you can’t beat them…

Also a 12.7% share in breakfast is a crisis now? Some stations would kill to have it.

So wait…. B105 is accused of stealing a concept from KIIS97.3 who stole it from Nova100 who brought it across from KIIS101.1? Who stole it from when I used to play it as a child?

Wait….

Why don’t they do an article about KIIS97.3 stealing Brisbane’s Number One Hit Music Station tagline from B105?

Its a bit on the nose to copy a tactic within the same market, within the same year, isn’t it? Its not like a its Secret Sound

You could also say that it’s a variation of the Fugitive competitions as well… (…who stole it off you as a kid…)

Remember when KIIS101.1 had The Noise the same time that The Fox had Secret Sound?

The point I’m making, is it’s not the first time stations have copied each other at the same time.

Only recently, I posted about i98FM and WaveFM both giving away a trip to Las Vegas at the same time (but for different events - one for NRL and the other for iHeart).

Radio hide and seek – fun and games not copycats

In 2025 four games of hide and seek have been played on radio in the capital cities of Australia.

But strangely, Brisbane’s Courier Mail (subscription required) have accused B105 of stealing the idea from KIIS97.3.

Embattled B105 breakfast team?

Do me a favour. The only embattled station in Brisbane at the moment is 97.3, at least on FM
