Foxtel guide says 7HD and 7 simulcast begins tomorrow at midnight. Hope I don’t get fooled

Spoke to 7 and they are saying ii may change back to sd at the end of January after the tennis WTF
haha. I knew it!!! I knew this was a temporary thing and for the Australian Open! 
Oh good, I’m glad they’ll be reverting it back to SD in January. Said no one ever.

Well, it’s a MAY.
So hopefully that means there’s a chance it will stay HD also.
The key word there is may!
Although knowing Seven and their track record in HD broadcasting, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this latest HD channel change is actually a temporary one, similar to what happened during the Rio Olympics.
I can only think the reason they switched early is because of the Hopman cup stars pretty much new years!
Hang on a second - then what is the point switching the feed over to the main channel, where they could possible do 3 tennis matches on 7 , 7wo and 7 mate…
If it is REALLY for the Australian Open, then I wonder why are they switching it over to HD nearly a month before the tournament starts?

Yes, I agree.
But even if the simulcast of the main channel continues after the tennis finishes, you still have to wonder what will happen once the AFL season starts in March. No more two-tier HD broadcasting, please Seven!

I’d be taking what admin staff say with a grain of salt. They are generally the last to know about technical details like this.

If this change is once again temporary, then I’m honestly glad I live in Regional QLD.
At least here 7 is just sticking with the status quo instead of this continuous chopping and changing of the HD channel.
Of course, if it’s permanent, I hope QLD is included, but I’d rather they not change anything here until it’s permanent

IF there was any logic to what Seven are doing, the HD switch would have happened as soon as the AFL grand final siren sounded or at least midnight that night. Then the various racing and golf events up to now would have benefited.

Probably to get it up and running before Christmas so they have enough staff around if there are problems with the switch.
they have done it before with the Olympics, so you’d think there shouldn’t be any issues…
HD for the Australian Open until 29 January.
At least we can see the Sydney-Hobart yacht race, Perth Skyworks on Australia Day as well as the Gold Coast Magic Millions in HD.
