HD Broadcasting

I agree. Poor communication. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s more to it. Perhaps MediaHub was caught short at a time when they were also finalising playout of Prime’s channels?

It also is completely at odds with their information page and at least one of the FAQ’s.

ABC main channel is now available in (HD) HIGH DEFINITION. Viewers with HD compatible TVs (with MPEG4 functionality) will be able to experience ABC in spectacular HD, including this year’s New Year’s Eve fireworks.

FAQ: Will everything on the channel be in HD?

All materials delivered to the ABC in HD will be broadcast in HD. Some of the older shows (pre dating HD, will not be available in HD). Also our news services are not in HD.

No mention of “not until 31 December”.

Typical case of the left hand having no idea what the right hand is doing…

I am a registered member on that forum and alot of people have tried to get this guy to back up the source of what he just posted. He hasnt done so. I call bullshit until there is a reference to it on the ABC homepage or announcement on the news…

Isn’t upscaled SD considered HD ? Isn’t upscaling what they are doing now?

How do we file a complaint to the ACCC for false and misleading advertising. My eyes say so - it’s not HD like 9 and 10.

Not holding my breath for NYE…

Trying to get this person to provide is source for his information about Native HD on ABC from new years fireworks is like trying to get the ABC to launch a HD channel properly.

Guess we will find out on New Years Eve :stuck_out_tongue:

I doubt the ACCC would give a rats about the ABC.

Make a complaint to ABC themselves or to ACMA.

In any case I doubt either would care.

Yet to even see ABC HD. Just waiting for it to arrive on my Foxtel IQ3 (sat). It’s scanned in on my other TV but hadn’t bothered looking at it as I really only play console games on it.

7HD schedule from Friday is Channel 7 not 7mate. This is interesting.

I’ve just checked the EPG for “7HD Sydney” and you’re right, Seven main channel programing (instead of 7mate programing) seems to be in the EPG from Friday onwards. No updates to any online guides yet as far as I can tell.

Very interesting indeed…

Praise the lord. Very interesting indeed. I wonder how long it will last.

Hopefully for good.

Although in any case, I must say that the timing of this move is rather interesting, not long after ABC HD launched with 100% upconverted SD programing (at least until New Years Eve anyway) to much disappointment. Has Seven finally come to their senses?

What worries me is when the start of the AFL season rolls around next year.

Is that just for Sydney or for Brisbane and Perth Too can one in those states find out ? Maybe they are going try and best abc to the punch bowel

I can check in 30 mins

Update: Still has 7mate programming next weekend. This however is looking through the Foxtel EPG so Foxtel might’ve not updated it yet.

So switching over at 2am?

None of the online guides have updated.

I can’t help but be skeptical about this - there was an EPG issue in Melbourne one night last week where the 7HD EPG was showing the 7mate schedule but still playing the main channel. It could just be another EPG error.

I’ll have to refresh my guide, as it’s still got 7mate programming on. One.

A very good point.

It’s also worth mentioning that there are a few “TBA” spots in the Seven EPG for programing (Carols In The Domain/Molly Meldrum special on Sunday, Love Actually on Monday, etc.) that has since been confirmed.

I think we’ll get a confirmation of whether this is a glitch or something more as further EPG data arrives.
