Yeah, I had recorded some episodes of Vikings on SBS HD and one on SBS. I have just been catching up on them this past week. The difference in quality is quite spectacular.
Before Food Network started SBS HD was probably the best of the lot in terms of quality.
I just wish theyâd upgrade all their news presentations to HD and flick to MP4.
Unfortunately, Iâd be very surprised if SBS World News is broadcasting in native HD this side of 2020.
I completely agree on the point of MPEG4 HD though. If thereâs enough space, SBS could even steal the thunder of the commercial networks by having two for the price of one, if you get my drift!
Is there a technical reason the main abc channel could not swing back to HD ?
Is there a noticeable difference in SBSâ HD picture quality compared to before the food network ?
The ABC already confirmed that the main channel will have a HD simulcast by June
So the SydNYE Fireworks will be in HD in 2016/2017?
FINALLY!
I donât believe that itâs confirmed that the ABC will be broadcasting Sydneyâs NYE Fireworks for 2016/17. Consider the rights up for grabs at this stage.
Yes. They have said that the rights are up for tender in 2016. Any network can bid for them.
well whoever it is they will be in HD now
Assuming the fireworks coverage is actually produced in HD
It is. Itâs broadcast online in HD and Iâve seen clips from Europe and the UK of it in HD
It was last year too! I watched it on my 50" LCD and looked good!
First 30 mins of Magic Millions race day in HD on 7mate in Perth before switching to SD on the main channel. We need 7 to upgrade its main channel to HD. How good will the Melbourne Cup look in full 1080i HD on 1 November.
I watched a bit of the tennis last night on 7mate and it looked so fantastic! Surprisingly they played some graphics that looked very SD-like.
I agree. 7HD canât come soon enough.
Was that the first ever Australian racing broadcast in HD? I donât recall any other broadcasts.
Iâm getting too used to Nine HD quality.
Has there been any announcement from 7 regarding HD yet?
IIRC, there was some horse racing in one of the networkâs HD Loops, but none of them actually broadcast it that way live.
Well they stream in HD, so they are perhaps close.
Thereâs one source out there with a vague thing saying by the AFL season - but Iâve not heard of that site before, and Nine told us the NRL would be HD too many times to start believing a network on that now.
Obviously Wikipedia being the cesspool it is, that link is being used as the citation that 7 will be HD for the Australian OpenâŚ
what about Tenâs Spring Racing Carnival in 2001, before they lost the rights⌠or Seven covering the Spring Racing Carnival from 2002 until the HD channel was handed over to 7mate. Were those racing broadcasts in HD?
I doubt it. Considering the FTA networks werenât fully producing mainstream sports like NRL AFL in HD until around 2007 or 2008.
