I have been told to put more effort into writing these and I promise I will do that. Starting next week. Watch Gruen. Wil, Todd and Russel are joined by Carolyn Miller and Renata Yannoulis.

You watch us every week so this week we’ve decided to take a leaf out of Apple’s playbook, and watch you. And let’s just say - we have notes. Wil and Russel are joined by Christina Aventi, Carolyn Miller and Renata Yannoulis.

Can’t afford to buy a house from Homeworld? Just buy a KFC box and live in that, apparently they’re impervious to lasers. Wil and Russel are joined by Adam Ferrier, Jessica Sutanto and Lauren Zonfrillo.

I really like Gruen for the interesting discussion of advertising, but increasingly I cannot stand Wil Anderson.

I don’t find him funny, and get annoyed when he interrupts the people on the panel to make annoying jokes.

I also think Todd hates advertising now so doesn’t offer good insights. The guest panelists are often the most interesting.

I’m glad you said something as I’ve been feeling the same thing lately. I skip over his monologue at the beginning now. Give me thoughtful chat and less jokes. I’m sick of the formula of Russell says something outrageous that Todd can’t believe that derails the chat. Whilst I love Todd, it was good to have a break from that last week.

I wouldn’t say he hates advertising. He just doesn’t agree with a lot of the unethical practices in the industry. When Russel gets excited about something shonky he’s quick to call it out as such.

As a comedian, don’t you think Wil’s job is supposed to be to keep things light and make people laugh?

Yes - but I don’t think they need that job on this show.

I’d prefer a host / presenter rather than a comic

Must be doing something right for 18 seasons of Gruen though. Plus 4 seasons of The Gruen Transfer, 3 sessons of Gruen Planet, 4 seasons of Gruen Nation and 1 season of Gruen Sweat.

The Gruen Transfer became just Gruen, and the other variants were often part of or during a series, so can’t necessarily say ā€˜18 series PLUS x,y,z’. Suffice to say it’s had close to 200 episodes over 18 years and still rates.

That’s true but the years/seasons is all a bit muddled. The ABC lists the current 2026 season as season 18 of Gruen on iView.

But since 2008, over 19 years, the show took a break in 2014 but had two versions/seasons in 2011. So if you look at the listings from imdb there have actually been 19 seasons:
The Gruen Transfer 2008-2011 for four seasons.
Gruen Planet 2011-2013 for three seasons.
Gruen 2015-2026 for 12 seasons.

I guess the ABC have counted both seasons in 2011 as one.

Makes sense as they ran back to back in a continuous block with just a slightly shifted and broadened focus when it transitioned to Gruen Planet.

It’s the penultimate week so it’s time for our annual brand battle episode. Who will win? We’ve also hired a scissor lift. Watch to find out why. Wil and Todd are joined by Karen Ferry, Dee Madigan and Lauren Zonfrillo.

It’s the final episode so it’s time to celebrate advertising with our own night of nights - The Grugies! Who will win? Who will make a fool of themselves? Wil, Todd and Russel are joined by Christina Aventi and Camey O’Keefe.

Fergalicious.

Returning to screen in 2027.
