New season coming soon according to promo tonight.
###Gruen returns for 2016
From Wednesday 3 August at 8.30pm
Gruen is back to find out why we buy what we buy. And why the ads on the side of our internet browser want us to buy more.
The multi award-winning and critically acclaimed Gruen returns to ABC TV on August 3 at 8.30PM.
Wil, Russel, Todd and a team of new and familiar faces are back to deconstruct our vast advertising landscape which gets more freakishly sophisticated every year we find ourselves around the Gruen desk.
Expect to see our panel of experts tackle topical local and international stories, as well as marketing and spin from the sublime to the ridiculous, to the utterly everyday. No topic is too big or small, too stupid or too serious to escape the Gruen treatment.
Fan favourite The Pitch returns as Australiaâs top creative agencies battle it out over the thorniest briefs we can throw at them.
âNine years after thinking âwe really hope this oddball panel show survives its first weekâ, Gruen returns as one of the ABCâs best and most beloved programs. Itâs a delight to welcome the team back. May they continue to call bullshit on the cynical messaging that surrounds us,â said ABCâs Head of Entertainment Jon Casimir.
Host Wil Anderson says, âYes we missed the election, but knowing Australia we will have another one by the end of the series.â
In its many incarnations since it debuted in 2008: The Gruen Transfer, Gruen Planet, Gruen Nation, and Gruen Sweat - the show, produced by CJZ, has garnered various awards: the 2010 AFI Award for Best Light Entertainment Program; the 2012 AACTA Award for Best Light Entertainment Program; the Rose dâOr in 2013; and this year, the Logie Award for Most Outstanding Entertainment program.
Todd Sampson has quit as non-executive chairman at advertising agency Leo Burnett. So both regular panelists no longer work for advertising agencies.
New promo aired tonight on ABC, saying the show is returning soon.
Great to hear! Iâm guessing it will replace Mad As Hell when its season finishes up.
Season 9
From Wednesday 13 September at 8:30pm
THIS IS A PRESS RELEASE TO SELL GRUENâŚ
There will be grandiose language, hastily gathered quotes and just enough information to sound enticing without actually giving anything away.
Yes, the show that unpicks the dark arts of advertising, branding and spin is back for its 9th season and 99th episode.
We are drowning in more marketing than ever. People are now brands, while brands pretend to be people, emailing you on your birthday and trying to seduce you to âjoin the conversationâ. Weâre living in a world where the US President is the biggest brand of all, celebrities are âinfluencersâ, influencers are celebrities and words like âinfluencerâ have lost all meaning.
Whether youâre spooling through Gumtree for a second-hand fridge, skipping through a podcast selling you a mattress, or checking the weather on the BOM website - you canât avoid advertising. Itâs as ageless as the airbrushed actor spruiking expensive face gunk. The only anti-venom is understanding how it all works.
Enter host Wil Anderson, Russel Howcroft, Todd Sampson and a trusty team of advertising experts, including veteran panellist Dee Madigan and some brand-new faces. The weekly topical series will drive through new marketing terrain - Amazon in Australia, the NBN and any PR disasters unlucky enough to erupt during the course of the season. Gruen will celebrate the good, the bad and the ugly. Plus, The Pitch returns with a whole new slate of impossible briefs and top agencies to battle it out in the Gruen ring.
Join us as we sneak ads onto the ABC and call bullshit on brands pretending theyâre just like us.
It will be back in 2018.
Gruen - Season 10
From Wednesday 2 May at 8:30pm
Gruen, the show that unpicks the dark arts of advertising, branding and spin, is back for its 10th season.
We are drowning in more marketing than ever. People are now brands, while brands pretend to be people. Weâre living in a world where celebrities are âinfluencersâ, influencers are celebrities, and words like âinfluencerâ have lost all meaning. Whether youâre guiltily watching your favourite reality telly show, trawling Gumtree for a second-hand stereo, or checking the weather on the BOM website - you canât avoid advertising. The only defence is understanding how it all works.
Enter host Wil Anderson, Russel Howcroft, Todd Sampson and a trusty team of advertising experts, including Dee Madigan and Claire Salvetti. The weekly topical series will cast a steely eye over new marketing terrain and any PR disasters unlucky enough to erupt during the course of the season.
Gruen will expose the brilliant, bad and downright mediocre of advertising and spin and continue to throw impossible, challenging briefs to willing agencies in The Pitch. Join us as we sneak ads onto the ABC and call bullshit on brands pretending theyâre just like us.
This week on Gruen:
Wil, Todd, Russel and guest panellists, Kimberlee Wells and Claire Salvatti discuss:
Facebookâs new ad campaign - a company in crisis and the evolution of Brand Zuckerberg.
Plus, selling Australia to the USA. We follow up on Tourism Australiaâs Dundee reboot.
And a âPitchâ to shut down the internet.
Saw a promo after Mad As Hell that a new season of Gruen will start on Wednesday 25th September.
Gruen Season 11 from Wednesday 25 September at 8:30pm.
Gruen XL (extended version) airs on ABC COMEDY from Friday 27 September at 8.30pm
Gruen, the show that tracks advertising almost as closely as advertising tracks you, returns soon for an all new season.
Wil Anderson is back in the hosting seat, joined by a crack team of experts who will reveal industry secrets and watch every single ad so you donât have to. The lineup includes Todd Sampson, Russel Howcroft, Dee Madigan, Claire Salvetti, Christina Aventi, Karen Ferry and some fresh faces.
The AACTA, Logie and Colorectal Surgical Society award- winning team will dig deep into the wild and weird world of brands in 2019. This year weâve already seen Instagram influencers stripped of their influence, Gillette abandon masculinity only to embrace it again, and supermarkets ditch plastic shortly before enticing kids to collect Ooshies.
Join the Gruen team as they run a finely-honed bullshit detector over everything that happens next.
Tickets available to be in studio audience
First episode is already sold out.
Was about to post about this, it looks like a badly dubbed movie.
Quite irritating to watch actually.
Also a big editing error during The Pitch. As theyâre revealing the picks for the best advert, one of cutaways of the ad agency reps (after Russell gave his verdict), showed the lady on the left with the award already in her lap. lol.
The payout error didnât seem to affect the ratings. I watched my recording on double speed and the synch problem wasnât as noticable
Poor quality control for this to slip through.
