I always thought “Black Coffee” was their best song.
I prefer “Pure Shores” to “Never Ever” even.
I’ve crossed the deserts for miles
If that doesn’t get belted out at a party, there’s something wrong.
Pure Shores is an all-time great pop song. Still sounds fresh today. Black Coffee and Never Ever are good too but Pure Shores owns.
Wow, good on 2GN (and 2XL) for digging that one up. You scarcely hear even “Treaty” these days.
Probably more a guilty pleasure but today on The 90s I heard Take This Heart / Richard Marx
(Actually thought this song was called This Time)
Today on 4KQ (DAB in the car sounded great):
Somebody to Love / Jefferson Airplane
Not many stations in Australia would play this one.
(Played following We Built This City / Starship)
OMG! in Sydney at around 4pm yesterday played Pseudo Echo’s “Beat For You”
It was the best 4 minutes of my Thursday.
One I haven’t heard on the radio for a long while
Skin Deep - The Stranglers
Just played on Campbelltown’s C91.3
2DayFM yesterday at 4:50pm:
S Club 7 - Bring It All Back.
I have not heard this since 1999. I was partly in shock and partly having a party in my new Citroen as I drove through Coogee.
Great debut single by S Club 7, a very catchy & cheesy song, but “Don’t Stop Movin” from 2001 is my favourite S Club 7 song, “S Club Party” is a close second.
I’m sure 2CA and the other Forever Classic stations would play this.
The Radiators ,-"No Tragedy " (1983?)on 99.7 Bridge FM(Redcliffe)Yesterday
I heard that on Wednesday morning on 99.9 SWR FM (Blacktown), which is perhaps the best & most consistently-programmed sub-metro community station in Sydney.
The Pointer Sisters and “He’s So Shy” on smooth in Sydney a few minutes ago.
There goes my Saturday night. I will be singing that all night. Thanks smooth for making my day!
Peter Gabriel,“Steam” 1993 on Triple M Brisbane this morning (its Triple M week at work )I haven’t heard that song for ages👍
You know your culture from your trash, @Karen_Cee
Great video to that song too.
But then Peter Gabriel has always made great video clips.
“Digging In The Dirt” is my favourite (mainstream) PG track. It’s rarer than “Steam”; I only hear it on the very odd occasion, community radio included. Not as rare as 1970s Genesis, mind.
That’s a great song too!
I think my favourite track of his would be “Big Time”,
