I sampled a bit of them last week. Unfortunately it was just an average automation mix at the time I listened. It’s a pity that many smaller community stations do not have many volunteers these days.

A few from the last couple of days. 2WEB continues to kick goals. Also of interest was a country track by lead singer of Hootie & The Blowfish (Darius Rucker); I recognised the voice immediately.

I’ll always associate it with my first trip to WA in October 2001. Absolutely smashed for a few weeks on radio (at least on Hot FM Bunbury) and then never heard again.

I love that you still do the Secret Sound; it’s delightfully old school and was a staple of radio in the 90s and earlier. I think you may still do the ‘Lucky $5’ as well from time to time?
Great to hear some younger voices on the radio as well. The young lady doing a voicetracked shift on Tuesday afternoon sounded like one of our Braidwood Central School kids (not that it’s a bad thing)!

A Little Less Conversation - Elvis Presley vs. JXL
Heard on Hit 104.7 today as a “high school hit” throwback. I’m fascinated by the 2000s Elvis revival triggered by Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, and this song played a major role in it. Interestingly, Junkie XL based his remix off an early version of the song (Take 2, first released on 1998’s Memories: The '68 Comeback Special), which is why it’s in a different key to the original.
