Great songs heard on radio

That reminds me.

I heard these two last night on 2RDJ Burwood. They were doing a Top 20 countdown of hits from 1995

Mouth - Merrill Bainbridge

Back For Good - Take That

So Much For Love / The Venetians on the Breeze right now. Gee I love that song.

IIRC this song charted best in Queensland back in the days when they had State-based charts - due to high-rotation on FM104. It was like one of their signature songs for a few months

Me too! And the 12 inch mix (which I have on this CD below) is a great one too.

Funny how that’s a solid MMM log yet none of those played on MMM

4/5 of those would play on Triple M?

Rooms On Fire / Stevie Nicks right now on 4BH. Great song IMO

Agree! My favourite of hers, along with “I Can’t Wait”.

Madonna - “Burning Up”

On CoastFM 96.3. I hadn’t heard this song before, so I was surprised to learn that it was actually Madonna’s first hit in Australia.

I definitely remember hearing this track on FM 104 back in the 80s

I agree. There is not one song of hers that I don’t like. One of my favourite female artists

Great song!

One of my favourites of hers too.

Oh wow. You hadn’t heard that one before?

Yes one of her early ones, and one of her best. I still remember the music video ( viewed through the eyes of an early teen boy  )

Nu Shooz - I can’t wait is even better, but the Stevie Nicks song of the same name is good too.

Both great songs, although very different

Brooke McClymont “I Can’t Wait” is another great song with the same title, though later (early 00s).

Oddly not on Spotify or iTunes.

The video is on YT Music although not the song. That’s one of the advantages I think of YT Music is when a song isn’t available the video usually is, and it makes no difference you can still add it to your playlist as a “song”.

If you’ve ever wanted to hear the surreal postmodern sound of K-Pop over AM radio, check out K-Wave Sunday on SBS Radio 1, 1224 AM in Melbourne at 9pm on Sundays. Two of this week’s highlights:

Heart2Hearts - “Focus”

NewJeans - “How Sweet”

I’m more of a Jpop fan, but those were some good choices you found. You can hear it on 1107 Sydney, 1440 Canberra and 1485 Wollongong as well. Of course, a lot of the East Coast can listen to it knowing how AM Signals travel further at night. If only if they were transmitting in AM Stereo and how good it would sound?

Of course there’s SBS Pop Asia on DAB+ as well. One of the few offerings I’ve yet to sample; might have to give it a listen. Beyond the songs that have crossed into the mainstream (Gangnam Style, Sticky Music etc.) I don’t have much knowledge of Asian pop music.
