Always good to hear Captain Sensible.
Some bangers Iâve heard on Rebel 99.4 this morning! Is it just me or is the best music on this station played from 6:00 AM - 10:00 AM? A couple of weeks ago I heard ââŠAnd Justice For Allâ the title track off the album of the same name, the full song too. AWESOME!
Metallica âThe Unforgiven IIâ
Megadeth âSymphony Of Destructionâ
Black Sabbath âN.I.B.â
Alice In Chains âDam That Riverâ
Foo Fighters âUp In Armsâ
The Black Keys âSet You Freeâ
The Beatles âTaxmanâ
Sticky Fingers âCycloneâ
Blur âCountry Houseâ
The Specials âA Message To You Rudyâ
Royal Blood âPull Me Throughâ
Van Halen âSomebody Get Me A Doctorâ
The Doors âCrawling Skin Kings
Pearl Jam Not For Youâ
The Strokes âSomedayâ
System Of A Down âHypnotiseâ
Foxy Shazam âWelcome To The Church Of Rock And Rollâ
Audioslave âGasolineâ
Limp Bizkit âTake A Look Aroundâ
Led Zeppelin âMisty Mountain Hopâ
Clutch âElectric Worryâ

The Living End âHow Do We Knowâ
Rage Against The Machine âPeople Of The Sunâ
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club âWhatever Happened To My Rock N Rollâ
Heard a few good ones when I was out in the car today.
All For You - Sister Hazel
Love Foolosophy - Jamiroquai
(both on 102.9 Triple M Newcastle)
Youâre The Best Thing - Style Council
(on 103.7 2NUR FM Newcastle).
Now thatâs a classic from 22 years gone by! Still love it.
âLittle Lâ is also a good one.
And âCosmic Girlâ. I like that one too.
Lost in Your Eyes - Debbie Gibson on Breeze
You Give Me Something is my fave of theirs.
Thatâs a good one too.
Temptation - Heaven 17 on Smooth 80s (from back in the days when Virgin was a charts power house). I also love hearing ABCâs âAll of my heartâ, so refreshing to hear something different to âPoison Arrowâ and âLook of loveâ. Songs not out of the ordinary for Smooth 80s but good examples of how it differs from the McDonalds radio of Oldskool 80s and Kiis80s (or whatever ARN variant).
I do miss Smooth 80s on DAB+.
Dragon- Western Girls
IGA in store radio now. They continue to astonish; this one is usually the sole province of Inphase and the Conga Line.
Duran Duran- Planet Earth (12ââ)
WS/Gold 101.7 now. I am shocked that they played the extended mix.
They are Totally 80s until New Years, but yes, good to see still!
I donât think Iâve even heard a 12 inch on Saturday nights for a while now, they used to do that a bit. Pretty much the only time they ever did normally.
Breeze played Led Zeppelinâs All of My Love. Thought I was accidently on Rebel ![]()
WSFM the other day played a 12" of One Night in Bangkok and I looked down to see âMarlon Vâ as the artist, which confused me no end.
Listening to GOLD this morning and heard a 12" of I want a new drug.
Thereâs two bonuses of playing 12" remixes.
- You can still be McDonalds radio playing the same old well-known âfavoritesâ, but with the appearance of âmixing it upâ, being a little different, naughty, risquĂ©, wildâŠ
- EPs really did enjoy a big comeback in the 80s, so not only do you have a wide catalogue to chose from, but the audience are warm to them as well. (There may even be the occasional wow factor - 'oh I havenât heard this remix for a couple of hours).
Guessing you were using iHeart? It uses Gracenote to generate station now playing info, not always accurateâŠ
Yeah i saw that with Gold104.3 on Christmas Day when iHeart came up with the Spanish name of Culture Clubâs âWar Songâ (La Cancion De Guerra).
And WS just played the 12 inch of Dead Or Alive âYou Spin Me Roundâ as heard on FM! Good to hear some 12 inches.
Funnily enough, that was on one of the EPs I had. I heard the original for the first time on Hauraki back in 84, when I was DXing from the South Island. The announcer made a big thing of the fact the shriek came from Clare Torry (Helen Terryâs replacement), who was responsible for none other than the shriek on Pink Floydâs Dark Side of the Moon album. It was definitely more talk less music back then.
Sadly, never seem to hear âIn too deepâ or âBrand new loverâ⊠both absolute bangers.
And âLover Come Back To Meâ .. thatâs my favourite DoA song.
Wasnât it a network-wide jingle?
