Great songs heard on radio

They play that all the time.

Would like to play The Steppers version on radio…

You’re Only Human - Billy Joel

Played a short time ago on Coast FM community radio at Gosford.

I rarely hear this one on the radio.

2NUR had January 1984 on their American Top 40 this afternoon, they played these forgotten tunes.

Cum On Feel The Noise - Quiet Riot
Talking In Your Sleep - Romantics
Say It Isn’t So - Hall & Oates

The poor old 2NUR “easy listening” faithful must have had a heart attack if they had tuned in at Quiet Riot.

Good to see Casey Kasem’s AT40 still getting a run. SWR ran it for a while but apparently it’s expensive to run. 2NUR would probably be pretty flush with sponsorship cash; it would rate pretty well with the boomers/retirees. I am guessing Newcastle Uni doesn’t fund them anymore.

Probably falls more into the “lost classic” category, but High Rollin’ by Sherbet right now on 4KQ.

Can’t Wait To See You - Eurogliders

Now Playing on Northside Radio FM99.3 Chatswood (Sydney).

Makes me think of everyone impacted by the
extension to the WA border closures and the Tongan volcanic eruptions.

Smooth FM is the only commercial FM station that seems to be acknowledging Meatloaf’s passing tonight.

There was a sweeper for this just before they played “Two Of Three Ain’t Bad” just now, which is my favourite song of his.

Well done Smooth and RIP Meatloaf.

A few community stations have honoured The 'Loaf; I’ve caught 2SSR and 2MNO playing him so far. I suppose I will do ‘Bat Out Of Hell’ for next week’s Rock In Stereo feature album.

Yes, they mentioned him on Hawk FM too and played one of his songs as well (“Paradise By The Dashboard Light”).

Oh man, 4KQ just played Why Me by Irene Cara!

I’m positive I haven’t heard this song since the mid-80s. What a classic. Songs like this are why I’ll miss 4KQ when something happens to it.

It reached No. 5 in Australia, charting higher here than in the US (No. 13). It bombed in the UK barely cracking the Top 100.

Instantly took me back to 1983.

It’s been exceptional over the last few weeks because of their “25 years in 25 days”. Although this song wasn’t part of a feature year hour, it was a “lost classic”. They generally play a lost classic every couple of hours throughout the day.

But there’s absolutely no reason WS/Gold shouldn’t also rip out songs like these periodically throughout the day.

I am listening to 1969 now. I am really impressed with the music they play. Like Baby Driver by Simon And Garfunkel. Never heard that track before but it is great.

Another track is the Black Eyed Bruiser by Stevie Wright. So refreshing to hear something different from Stevie Wright.

Used to play my Uncle’s Simon and Garfunkel albums for hours when I was a kid in the '70s. They had so many other great tracks besides the usual ones that get played on high rotation. Recently re-discovered that Baby Driver track via a cover on YouTube. Hadn’t heard it in years.
