A song that fits that theme of singers whose main job isn’t singing. But it did not become a hit.
These two were NFL Players at the time the song was released. One of them (Morten Andersen) played in the NFL until 2007!

I am so sorry about that. He also did some Christmas carols but no need to listen.
I’d reckon you could get a whole day out of it when you think of all of the actors, sports people, radio announcers etc who have released a single.
A month or so ago, VintageFM did a whole hour special on Sydney radio personalities from the 60’s and 70’s who released a single - from memory, there was John Laws, Ken Sparkes, Donnie Sutherland, Ian Macrae, Malcolm T Elliot, Ward Pally Austin, Frank Hyde, and John J Francis. Yes, some was crap, but the novelty value made it well worth the listen.
Now that’s proper narrowcasting!
I’d love to listen to that. In my view that is what radio is about . For example I would not add John Laws onto my Spotify playlist but just for curiosity it would be a great listen . It matter of opinion maybe it would be a “great song” on radio for some to keep it on topic :).
There’s Something Going On - Frida (from ABBA) from 1982 on Toni Tenaglia’s show on Gold 104.3
Brilliant song! Love it to this day. Produced by Phil Collins.
I know it won’t be long…before that makes an appearance on the Billy Bob Show. Very surprised to hear it on Mold 104.
How could you not love the playlists that Nine come up with! Had a good time driving home from work tonight with these.
I think he also played the drums in this song
Just played on Coast FM Gosford.
Tell Me A Story - 1927
A bit of a shame that their other hits after the release of the “…Ish” album don’t get more airplay (such as ‘Don’t Forget Me’ and ‘The Other Side’ as well as this song).
This song probably also deserves a mention in the ‘Did They Really Just Play That?’ thread, as the song was released in 1990 but was played during their “Soundtrack Of The 80s” program, but I’m happy to overlook that as it could be argued that 1990 is in the decade of the 80s.
Heard this one earlier tonight on WSFM
Living In America - James Brown
Haven’t heard that for a while!
Now Playing on 104.9 Triple M Sydney as part “Triple M Aussie”
Wide Open Road - The Triffids
Great long forgotten Aussie song!
I’ve heard Rosie Walton playing that a few times on Triple M Melbourne.
I wish Rosie would do a network show going by the songs she plays.
Heard on tonight’s WSFM “House Party Playlist” show
Shakedown - Bob Seger
Apple Eyes - Swoop
My Sharona - The Knack (used to get played ALL the time not long ago).
It’s still a quintessential WS FM track in my mind! As a kid in the 90s, ‘My Sharona’ was just about the only 70s track played on 2DAY FM, too.
Apple Eyes is a great choice for Saturday night. I know some members dislike it but it’s just straight out fun.
Luka - Suzanne Vega from 1986 on Triple M Melbourne as part of its “Randomizer”. Haven’t heard that song on that station since the days of EON.
Good song yes. I prefer Marlena on the Wall personally though.
“Left Of Centre” wasn’t bad either… I think they were her only 3 hits here.
